Scratch. It'd probably closer to 6.5 after you fill the oil filter. Guess the manual doesn't tell you that.

Hespen- Have you actually read your owners manual? And do you have a 4.6 in the '07 that your profile shows? Like Bluejay said, '04-up 5.4 3V takes 7 qts. They took 6 qts. in the 5.4 up through '03 and the '04 Heritage 2V but the 5.4 3V has always taken 7 qts. with filter change. That brings it to half way between the marks on the stick, which is where it belongs.

For 1 thing I wouldn't run a Fram filter on a goat cart much less on a truck that sold for over 30k new. You say it doesn't hold good oil pressure with the Fram. I hate to tell you this but the oil pressure gauge Ford has used for quite a while is a idiot light with a needle, meaning it does not reflect actual oil pressure. Does yours move or just stay in one spot? That is a criminal act on Ford's part I believe but they decided in their almighty wisdom some years agp that people would be happy if they thought they had good oil pressure so the put a phony gauge in that only shows if you have oil pressure or none. My oil pressure gauge stays the same if I'm idling on a hot day or running 80MPH. It's only a "feel good" gauge. If yours is actually moving (reflecting actual pressure) or running low pressure, something is strange because Ford didn't build it that way.

Like the guys above posted "7" quarts for the ThreeV's.

The TwoV's are 6 including filter. The only time you add more than 6 is if the truck has an oversized filter (after market) or the truck has a remote system that has been disassembled/reassembled. That said, the extra amount needed to bring it up half way on the stick(that's full) after reassembly doesn't even amount to a 1/2 quart. A simple two valve oil change, with remote system or without is 6 quarts.

You can't go wrong sticking with what the owner's manual suggests:

Motorcraft 5w20 Syn Blend and Motorcraft 820S filter.

7 Quarts always over fills mine. And thats with the 5.4L Yea, man. says 7 Only thing is, its always over. Im pretty sure my 5.4L is the same as any. Either that or I must have some type of spacer in my oil pain that over fills me at 7. You tell me.

7 quarts (6.6 litres) puts me at exactly half way in the cross hatched area of the dipstick, right where it's supposed to be. My newest two other Ford vehicles which were/are cars, are exactly the same. Half way in the cross hatched area when using the specified amount of oil.

6 3/4

I see most people say 7, I have always put in 6 3/4 quarts, then after 500 or so miles I check again if it needs a little top off I have the 1/4 quart left for that. I run Mobile 1 5w20 sythetic, so yeah its not a cheap oil change.
