I know there have been many comparisons between the two and from what I've read, more people prefer Line-X over Rhino. My question is tho, with the prices I mentioned above(Rhino $400 out the door vs Line-X $480 out the door) which would you have installed? I have an 08 FX2 SuperCrew and don't really put anything in the bed at all. I drive a truck just because I like them over cars not because my work requires me too or anything like that. My main concern is really just looks......with that being said, would you go with the Rhino or Line-X? Thanks in advance for your replies!

 

I'm assuming you're talking about Rhino's "Tuff Stuff" their low pressure system that has that glouped cottage cheese look which in that case I would go with Line-X. However their "Tuff Grip" which is a 2:1 ratio meaning a softer coating has somewhat a more uniform texture and their "Hardline" is gonna look identical to line-x, but none of Rhinos products compare as far as durability.

 

Good answer, allow me to add to it.

Regarding Rhino, you need to find out what product they are selling you. Is it Tuff Stuff, Tuff Grip, or Hardline. If they are selling you Tuff Stuff, forget it. Tuff Grip and Hardline are much better products. However, neither Tuff Grip or Hardline are as strong as LINE-X. Looking at technical data sheets, LINE-X has a 31% higher tear strength. Is that significant? Well, yes, that's significant, but whether or not you need that extra strength is up to you. Now regarding the 2:1 ratio of Tuff Grip and Hardline: I received a solicitation by mail from Rhino about a week ago that indicates that those products are or will soon be 1:1.

Consider fading. All of the Rhino products mentioned above as well as regular LINE-X will fade. However, LINE-X with the optional Xtra product is fade resistant. Rhino offers another product called Solarmax which is also fade resistant. But, most Rhino dealers don't offer it. (BTW, Solarmax is not really a Rhino product. It's made by a company called Bayer and Rhino buys it from them and slaps their name on the chemical barrels. Also, for $400, I guarantee it's not Solarmax.)

Line-X. Specifically, Line-X Xtra. The Xtra option allows you to color match it, or color it another color for your bed, which will generally look great, and last long.

 

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific about the Rhino Liner.......it is the Hardline Liner. The guy told me they currently have $50 off retail ($450 retail here is SoCal) as well as another promotion where they pay the tax. Sounds like Line-X is the way to go. I did ask the Line-X shop here and the Xtra is $150 more.....pretty sure its well worth it

Line-X all the way, Rhino does not even compare. $80 difference is no where near a big enough price gap to get Rhino rather than Line-X in my opinion.

 

I would get neither, and spend the $4-500 on something you will get some use out of.

 

Depends on what your going for. If looks are the most important go with what you like. If you are going to beat the heck out of it then you need the one that is more durable. Both are good products. Where you really need to pay attention is the prep work. I have seen liners break loose because of improper prep work. You have to make sure that whoever is spraying it scuffs the entire area before spraying. Infact what you should do the prep before having it sprayed. You can also save money this way as you do most of the labor. Good luck.

 

I have a friend whose business requires trucks and they have used Line-X and Rhino on multiple vehicles, so asked hime for advice. He said Line-X has never chipped or faded....Line-X has Dupont chemicals which are a bit more advanced than Rhino.

I got Line-X and love it...applied thick and the color/glossiness is fantastic. Course it may have ,uch to do with the installer, but they do have lifetime warranty. (BTW-Make sure they remove bolts and spray and replace....some cheap jobs spray right over your bolts!)

 

I recently hauled a production drill press head that weighed in the neighborhood of 700-750 lbs. It was on an old pallet and we (3 of us) literally drug it out of a Dodge truck which sat higher than mine buy about 2 inches into my truck. We were backed up tailgate to tailgate. I had hardboard down in the bed but not on the tailgate. I scuffed my Line-X in one spot on the tailgate. About the size of your pinky fingernail. I thought it would be way worse given how we were "transferring" the drill press. The scuff is very shallow and you have to be looking right at it to see it. I'm very happy with my Line-X.

Line-X as well here..Only thing that I had to do was clean it good , because the revious owner had ut a rubber mat down on the bottom of the truck bed..So I spent about 30 minutes using my steam cleaner and purple power cleaning it up.. Line X held up to 3500 psi @ 5 GPM and at 210 degrees out of my steam cleaner so I would say its pretty tough..

 

I would rather spend $1000 for line-x to $100 rhino lining. Line-X shreds rhino period.
