dumped exhaust

i have been thinking about what im going to do about my exhaust on my 05 f150 xlt 4.6l with magnaflow duals, a k&n 57 seriesair intake and sct xcal 3 with custom tunes, the past fews days and i decided im going to keep the same magnaflow muffler and just dump my one in, two out muffler. i just want to see how it sounds and go from there, where it be a muffler change or whatever.

however a buddy of mine is discouraging me from doing this and says i should just keep my duals. his reasoning is the loss of back pressure that dumps create make the performance and the horses go down.

i searched the forums and could not find what i was looking for.

is this true? how much horses would i be loosing?
i want my exhaust louder, but dont want to sacrfice performance.

What would you do?

It will have no effect on the engine performance. The drone in cab may affect the performance of your brain though. Just run sidepipes

It will be louder inside, not too much louder outside. I personally hate the sound of dumped exhaust.

I dumped mine before I got the true duals, more cab drone, less exterior noise.

Your problem is Magnaflow. They are quiet.

Run true duals or high flow cats. Obviously you care about performance, or you wouldn't have posted your concern of losing horses, stick with maggies rather than a restrictive flowmaster. Might even find you a Roush Off-Road muffler, or Borla. Lots of options out there. Gotta decide if you want sound, performance, or a balance.

2hp on a truck that doesn't make 200rwhp is more than I want to loose. If you care about performance get some high flow cats, I saw some for less than $40 each. They will make it louder than the big stockers.

Horsepower you're not going to notice or feel...

Dump your exhaust if you want it louder inside the cab. Get highflow cats if you want to louder in the cab and out!

Well after working on racing engines for nascar, 2hp is a big deal to me. Teams will pay $$,$$$'s for 5hp. You would be surprised what a 3hp advantage will do on a 850+hp engine. Why would you pay money to have a loss of performance

I'm used to my old truck, after my true dualed Super 44s my mpg dropped 0.6, I suppose a single muffler on a 5.4L wouldn't be as bad a loss. I still got the Super 44s under my bed when I was planning to put them on my F150 Weird that I haven't got rid of them yet..........

Well if you want to try the dump exhaust and decide you don't like it later or want to switch back and forth try this.
