what are my options
what are my options
I was hoping to put on a friends s/c from a lightning but i dont think that will work on my 5.4 So I am looking at getting
turbo
waste gate
piping
oil lines
BOV
intercooler
FUEL PUMP
and injectors and making my own kit
prob one or 2 small things I am missing but I should be able to build a front or rear mount kit for cheap
The only thing is what size turbo? thats what I am trying to decide I'm gonna be on the highway and DD mostly so I'm not sure

STS makes a rear mount kit, do a search for them and see how big of a turbo they run. I believe a guy even has only 4PSI from his and put out like 440-480TQ some stupid high number?
Check out that liquidated magna kit as posted above, good kits for a good price!

thanks guys! I liek the sts kit but I can build my own for cost of parts and thats under 2k so i'll se what im going to do might do front ount just because it's a trucks and i am on some construction jobs
Again, the STS set up I believe is offroadable. I think you dont loose any function of a truck as the turbo takes the mufflers spot.
I would try to imitate their set up but for less money but more work.

I could build the kit in a weekend and have it installed, It would be nice to have a shooping list of stuff that the sts does come with and I think I might just do a front mount
what size turbo!!?

STS was a BADA$$ setup
Well if you are looking into the STS setup, I recommend it. I had it installed as their Guinea pig back in 2004 when the new 3V's came out. I had a helluva time though getting a tune, everybody (Roush, ATI, etc) was hush hush on their tuning for their R&D for their kits. So we did a basic tune at Dallas Mustang. Long story short, I blew the poop out of my motor about 15000 miles later having fun. The power was great, noooo lag due to the fact that you have a V8 with gobs of lowend TQ from the get go. Setup was easy, don't know if they changed the little resistor or not for the oil pump, the gold doodad that changes from lo to hi flow, but I had a scare while cruising through the desert when my oil pump alarm that comes with it went off, and I looked like Spyhunter going down the interstate with the plumes of oil coming from my exhaust, so I cut out the resistor and spliced the wires together and kept the pump on hi fulltime. No Damage, but man it was scary. Since then, I have had JBA build me my new motor here in San Diego, all forged internals, ported heads, and so forth. Just recently installed my Whipple Supercharger pushing 10 lbs. Running 389 RWHP and 441 RWTQ with a very mild tune. But I pull away from my buddy's Lightning with ease.
Now that they have completed the kit, your install should be a helluva lot easier, no need to cut and measure and bend the tubing yourself. I did a top mount intercooler setup like the WRX's have due to my ram air hood. Was pretty sweet. Hopefully this helps you in your decision, loved my turbo, but the Whipple screams when you punch it, both sounds are sweet.

You have any videos from your STS install, just curious how it sounded on the 5.4 3v. Lastly, any videos of how your truck sounds now with that compression ratio? Sounds killer, why such a mild tune though? And what amount of boost can your now built block handle?
