Which tranny do I have?

I've got an '02 SC SB 4x4 with the 5.4L. The factory specs list 2 possible auto trannys, the 4R70W and the 4R100. Is there any way to figure out which one I have?

My only thought is that maybe the 4R100 is a heavier tranny and is only on the trucks equipped with the "7700 package", (7-bolt wheels, heavier suspension, etc.) which my truck is not.

Thanks.

Here is a picture of a 4R75W oil pan.

Here is a picture of a 4R100 oil pan.

Go and look to see what you have.

Thanks for the pics.

Non-tranny question, I noticed in your signature that you have a 5.4L w/ a 5-spd in a SC SB. Did you install that after you purchased your truck or were you able to order it that way from Ford? I was just curious as all the info I've ever seen only shows the auto tranny as the only tranny available with the 5.4L.

My truck started life as a 4.6 with a 5 speed manual. I had to do the rest.

On the door sticker there will be a transmission code. If the code is a U then you have a 4R70W. If that code is an E then you have a 4R100. If the truck is a lightning then that code is a 7.

But you do have the 4R70w unless your truck is a 7700, Harley, or Lightning.
