Cost For New Clutch?
Cost For New Clutch?
Quotes from two different Ford dealers; $1000 and $1700. Both included machining the flywheel, parts and labour. Both took about 5 minutes to come up with the quote, so I doubt these were not any sort of "off the cuff" quote. Both checked with their mechanics (hours of labour?) and referenced some other Ford manuals. I'm shoked at the difference in prices. What's reasonable for a replacement cost and what might be some, if any, surprises I may want to be aware of?
By the way, my clutch disengages about 1 inch from the floor and is becomming quite stiff and requiring more effort/muscle to get it to the floor. I suspect it could fail soon.

Do as much preventative maintenance as you can while they're in there - otherwise you'll be paying again to have them take it all apart when the stuff fails.
have you checked your clutch fluid level yet it could be low but if its to low youll need to bleed the sytem to get the air out
it doesnt sound like you need a new clutch but its your master and or slave that are failing the problem is if its the slave as said before you have to remove the trans to replace it and if your in there mine as well change the clutch and rear seal
1000 sounds about right its about 400 in parts from the dealer you could probobly have an independent shop do it for alittle less 700-800
