I'm wondering how long a (probably chinese) forty dollar E-bay purchased fan will last. Kinda like going to Harbor freight for an AED pack isn't it?

Derale, SPAL, Motorcraft, are all good.

 

This is the one I'm looking at. I have one on my 3.0 Ranger and it is way overkill.

I have read also the the Ford Lincoln VIII fan that can be found at EBAy and junkyards is a super powerful fan. Adapting it should be easy. I may try that route.

 

Sorry ... looks iffy to me. Motor looks too small, for one thing. Kinda flimsy looking - small mounting tabs, etc. Unknown manufacturer = unknown quality. I doubt it's a true 2500cfm fan (maybe in free air, but that's not how they are actually used).

Vendor also said 2500 cfm is more than in most cars - well maybe in a Yugo, but not in your truck

I guess if you wanna try it, sure. Just remember it's your truck's cooling system we're talking about, not a bathroom fan, okay? (Although the latter can be kinda important too LOL!)

Just follow best practices on the wiring/install/control - even a great fan will be useless with poor infrastructure.

yah the problem here is that alot of these fans are high current draw on start up, which is usually what blows fuses and relays.

I guess because I just dont trust the methodology of trying to support the weight of these fans going over rough road to not move around with rods of any material now. I put an aftermarket transmission cooler in an old pontiac for my folks years ago using the plastic ties, and just noticed that they are loose now too. Right turn Clyde.

 

Seems to me if it was in the Mark VIII that the relay controller in that vehicle has to be adequate. Maybe that is a solution...

 

Yup. You can get a big 80amp Bosch relay to switch that just fine.

yea looks very similar. Try to find one that includes the mounting hardware if you can. If you cant the mounting tabs are 5 or 6 bucks a pack at orillies

just grab one from autozone without a relay for 17.99

 

Thats ok for you guys in the US but it asks for a zip code to view anything and are Canadian one does not cut it. Could you put a link up to it to see if that works for us cunuks.
