Prochargers w/ 4.10's come on in!

I am getting the procharger ready for install and have been contemplating a gear swap as well. I know for a centrifigal the psc-1 has good low end but I would like it ti really jump off the line. My rear tire is 31"o.d. and with the 3.55's and the weight of the scew it seems sluggish. My inlaws expy with the tow package has the 3.73's and even it feels more peppy off the line. What have your expereinces been with the 4.10's? Did gas milage suffer drastically? How is around town driving, which is 90% of what I do, we have my wifes Subaru for long trips.

Also, what did it cost you to get them swapped? I have the 8.8 rear-end.

I switched to the 4:10 gears about a year ago and glad I did. Cost me around $1100. and yes you will notice the difference off the line, but it nots going to snap your head back, it is a 6000+# vehicle. Before, I cruised the highway at 75 mph and 2000 rpm. Now I'm at 2400 rpm. Gas milage didn't change much at all. Normal driving around town is no different than before. As for the P1-SC, you'll notice some gains at the low end but it'll really kick in around 3500 rpm. then yeehaa!! I never could understand why a full size truck would have anything else but 4:10's or better.

Did the 4.10 help with the "sluggish" feel the stock set-up seems to have? Iknow it will nto be neck snapping, I just feel the stock gearing is flat out wrong. Dodges come with a 3.92 gear from the factory and feel much more 'willing' to accellerate than the fords do, even the ones that have the small 4.7l

With the 4:10 gears it won't seem sluggish anymore. I believe it's the right gear ratio for these trucks. The standard 3:55 gears are really more for easy cruising speeds and saving gas, not performance. I doubt you'll lose 1 mpg. The only problem is with more gidyup, the more you'll want to stand on it, thus using more gas.

Guys, I have been looking to do this swap. I totally understand that for a better hole shot the 4.10 is the way to go. Who sells the pinion and gear set?? How hard is it to install??

If you don't know exactly what you're doing, and you don't all the right tools, don't try it. The most important thing is setting the backlash properly. If you F that up, you'll trash your rear end. Not worth it. Just let an experienced tech. do it.

1,100 Bucks seems STEP to me though. Gears aren't but 150-200 dollars or am I totally wrong here? If that's the case, I'll either be sticking with my factories or learnin how to set my backlash

He has a 4x4 thus front and rear axles had to be done. I have been told to expect $4-500 including the gears and install kit for a 2wd truck.

Sounds more like it...Duh, I didn't pay attention that the truck was a 4x4.

The 410's do work well with the cent type blowers. I am running a Powerdyne. My experience with 430's showed me to stick with Ford Racing gears if you want quiet gears. I am running 31 inch tires.
