The ECO part may struggle with a heavy load uphill.....but the BOOST part sure won't

According to CODOT Eisenhower Pass has a max grade of 6%. In the video the driver said his foot was all the way down, wide open throttle and he was maxed out around 60mph.

I have been over it towing with my F-250 SD V-10 loaded and it has 31.7" tires and 4.30 gears and it will accelerate over 60mph. I have also been over many other passes in Colorado and I can tell you Vail and Rabbit Ears and Douglas are steeper to climb and he would not be able to hold 60MPH over those, if he can just barely hold it over Eisenhower, and the speed limit at Vail is 65mph.

Also keep in mind that in the video the ambient temp at test time was 41 deg. Higher summer temps = hot intake temps on the eco = lower performance. A eco with 35" and 3.55s would not be able to hold 60mph over Eisenhower with the same load as he had.

On another note, I would like to see how much he would downshift and slow down over this pass:

Kevin, If you go to sell that nice red crew in the photo, PM me! I am looking for one like that for my son.

I don't think you can get the heavy duty payload package in a Lariat either, I thought it was XL and XLT only

And I think 3.73's are available across all engines if you do 4x4... although I am not going to do the build to prove it

It's getting silly how much Ford is restricting what we can manually configure through a build, but it's funny you see trucks on lots show up with all sorts of crazy option possibilities that are not possible if you manually build it...

Not without HD Payload on a 3.5 EB.

Correct, you can't load up a Lariat with the HD package, for reasons unbeknownst to me, and many others.

Why you can't get LED lights on a Lariat with the HD package is completely beyond me.

It surprised me you can even get a Lariat in an HD package, you used to not be able to do that

Add this to:

Why can't you get a Lariat SuperCab with 8' bed
Why can't you get a Lariat Standard Cab at all...

Very little demand for that. The other, I don't know.

Who cares about low demand? How hard is it to screw a different dash, or different seats or whatever into the truck they are building?

Especially on a custom order truck?

They used to do this sort of stuff... I have been buying trucks since the 80's

Also, re: 3.73 rear, it seems most of the 3.5 non-turbo and the 2.5 eco's have 3.73 rear lockers...

One more question, I found 2015 locally, I am picking it up Friday. It's a 2015 XLT 5.0 v8 but it has the 3.31 electric locker... I wanted a 3.73 electric locker, but 2015 supercrew's with the 6.5' bed and v8 are so rare, I had to get what I found... and I did get a good price

Will ford swap the gears? How much should I expect to pay for that at the dealer (I want it done there, under warranty)

Ford does. These trucks aren't built by hand, they are built using a ton of automation. Every additional option or combination adds cost to not only the design of the truck, but also the assembly process. If it costs, say, $10 million to add an option and it only brings them an additional $8 million in profit, why should they LOST $2 million just to add an option that 172 people want?

These aren't hand-built $250k luxury cars here.

If it is 4x4, I would expect $1k or more to swap the gear ratio in the axles. You have to do both. I would cringe doing that on a brand new truck...

Drive it with the 3.31's, I think you will find the low gear in the 6 speed makes up for it.
