Question of the Week: Could Ford make the new Raptor into a new Lightning?
The new Ford SVT Raptor F150 is built to battle any driving conditions on-road or off. The new 3.5L EcoBoost V6 ix expected to deliver at least 450 horsepower, which when combined with the 10-speed transmission and the lightweight 2015 F150 body should make for one quick half ton pickup.
Say that Ford was to swap out the Fox off-road suspension, the off-road friendly wheels and the advanced four wheel drive system, could they basically convert the new Raptor into a new Lightning?

That's because it was way over priced. 45K for a reg cab FX4 or 41K for a reg cab FX2. I only paid 40K for my screw FX4 new. Not many would pay more for less of a truck.
I could justify paying more if it had something special that wasn't available on a regular f150 like a 425 hp ecoboost or something similar. But the tremor was just all the premium parts put on a reg cab, i.e. EB, 4.10's, FX interior, black 20's, HID headlights.

That wouldn't be cost effective at all. The market for the Lightening is gone. The 2004s sat on the lot for a while unsold.
