98 f150 speaker problem

I have a 98 f150 4.2
I was driving down the road listening to music then all of a sudden both front door speakers stopped working. I took off the door panel and the speakers were still hooked up. I then tested different speakers that see band new and still got no sound from either door. Any ideas? Oh my back speakers work as well

If it was one speaker that went out I'd say one of the wires is probably broken or rubbed through the casing causing a short. But both speakers at the same time makes me think more of a head unit issue. Is it the factory head unit?

pull the head unit out and inspect the wiring. Its really pretty easy getting them out although I cant remember the step by step. I do remember when I swapped head units it took about a half hour.

If you have the DIN tool, it takes about 30 seconds to pull it out.

DIN tool is only necessary for the factory one, aftermarket ones you just pop off the trim and unbolt the head unit adapter plate.
