How to Diagnose a bad A/C compressor ?
Hey guys, I've done a search and didn't come back up with anything and Chilton doesn't say anything. How can I properly diagnose that its bad. Last year I filled it with gas and still didnt work. So I let it be
The heat works excellent. I can hear the blend door moving (at least I think thats it). I came across a thread where someone mentions bypassing a relay that ensures the compressor is bad. I can rent some A/C tools from AutoZone but wanted some advice or some knowledge.
Replacing the compressor doesnt seem bad but don't want to buy unnecessary items.
Any help/experience to diagnose would be nice. Thanks

Reasons to replace a compressor
1. Leaking from shaft or body seal.
2. Catastrophic internal failure - bits and pieces of the internals contaminate much of the rest of system.
3. Mechanical seizure, often in conjunction with #2.
4. Insufficient pressure differential.
I don't see your symptom on that list. You need to do some actual troubleshooting instead of random wrenching.
