I have 39,000 miles on a 2002 f150 4x4. It appears to me that the clutch slave cylinder is leaking. I have to refill the oil reservior every two days and then pump the clutch pedal to get the clutch working. The dealer says 39,000 miles , tough luck no coverage. Its an expensive repair. They have to pull the tranny. Any suggestions on getting some help from the dealer or Ford on coverage? Thanks Dave

 

The exact same thing just happened to my 2002 F150. Don't know whether to take it in, or try and replace it myself. What kind of qoutes have you gotten to fix it? I've got 40,000 mi. so my warranty just went out too.

The repair is about $1,000. I took it to the local ford dealer because I intend to pressure Ford into paying for it. I just drove over the continental divide and the truck vibrates like crazy. I wonder if the dealer got the front drive shaft put on correctly. I really haven't had any trouble with this truck, but I have a funny feeling......

Looks like I got a double dose of that "tough luck". My rear window (not a slider) leaks and my slave cylinder for the clutch pedal leaks on my 2002 F150. This all started at 39,000.
Happened just as the warranty ran out.
Now that's impressive engineering. Looks like this will be my last Ford.

It just cost me about $1K to replace the entire clutch. Problem was the leaky slave cyl. at 55K in my 2001. Didn't see much sense in having them tear it apart and not replace the clutch and pressure plate. (I'm also somewhat PO'd that for told me that replacing the Ford clutch with a Centerforce clutch would void the rest of my extended warranty, which so far hasn't covered any repairs) I've been advised that I need to be very careful with my hydraulic clutch when the temp is below minus 20 because I will blow the seals on the slave. Funny how all the Toyotas and Subarus and Hondas and you name it running around town with hydraulic clutches don't seem to have this problem. I've really enjoyed my truck and put a lot of miles on it, but it's no use to me if it breaks to the tune of $6-700 every time it gets cold. I'm looking at Tundra's, after 32 years of driving a Ford.
