I get this info from the AFS Wheels web site.
1997 is the first year of the 5x135 mm pattern, which is still in use to 02.
I *think* I read in another post that AFS also sells the 12MM lugs for the L rims, but this is not noted on the web site.
I forget which memeber posted this, but he would need to call AFS and confirm that he can get the 12 MM lugs for the L rims.
I can never remember where the 12 mm to 14mm chane is at, but I am 95% sure it was after 97 ( '00 I think is the cut off ).
Please tell him not to use the acorn lugs, with the tapered ends on them, that is just wrong.

They do say this on the site though? It mentions
that vehicles made after that date require different lug nuts which cost more. Maybe these are the 12mm ones we're looking for?,,,,98
Lug and Lock Sets
We have lug and lock sets available for $35.00/set. The set includes 16 lug nuts and 4 locks with key. The lug nuts are solid steel with a chrome finish. Ford's built after 11/29/00 will require special lug nuts that run $45.00/set.

The 5x5.5 cut off is clearly marked, but is it 01 that the 14mm lugs were started then ?
I was under the mis-understanding that this was in 99, but that is from the depths of my mind, which at times doesn't work all that great.

I went around and around with AFS about thier web site. It's confusing and misleading as to which size and price for the lug nuts. Pasted below is on the site above the paragraph about the lug and lock sets.
Anyway, I verified it thru Ford Racing's web site also. Trucks made before 11-29-99 have 12mm, after 11/29/99 have 14mm studs.
The Ford Racing Lightning Lug nut p/n's are 12mm=M-1012-C and 14mm=M-1012-E. The costs isn't $7/8 as some believe but $7/8+ for a set of 5. AFS charged me $45 for 4 sets. Now if I can only get them.
[B]1997 - 2000 Ford F150 Pickup, Expedition and Lincoln Navigator - You will want to choose the 5 x 135mm rim. These wheels have a +14mm offset with a 3.425 hub bore. Vehicles built after 11-29-99 will require special lug nuts. We have these available in our Accessories section. [B]

Ahh, that's a revelation! $7 or $8 for each wheel is a different story altogether!! I'm marching right over to the dealer, and either buying(possible, SVT dealer) or ordering a full set.
Now we just have to find the person who started the $8 per lug rumor, and tar and feather them, LOL! Thanks for the info, just need the lug spacers now,,,,98

Do Lightning rims have a different lug nut seat than other F-150 stock wheels???
I just got this back from an e-mail I sent them. Sounds fishy??
They fit, or they don't. Only one answer to that question?? I was asking if the 12mm lug nuts they sell would fit an FX-4 wheel, and from their answer I'm guessing their wheels are designed differently?? Lots of unanswered questions still.,,,,98
Thanks for your inquiry! No, I'm sorry but we do not have anything we would recommend for your use, but we appreciate your interest in our products.
Best regards,

Don't know for sure
About a wekk or so ago, I had suggested to look at 12mm L lugs to see if they fit FX-4 wheels.
I don't have FX4 wheels, to know what the lug looks like, nor have I looked at one upclose ( kind of hard to tell at 65 mpg on the highway ).
If I get a chance, I'll take one of my L lugs to the ford dealer to see how they compare, from what I can tell on the surface.
I'll let you know once I get a chance to look.
I know for sure that the L lug and the standard 16" polished wheel lug are different.
The standard wheels use acorn type, the L lug is a flat end, with a rubber or Poly bushing on the end of it.

Screamer, if your wheels are the 17x7.5 5hole tear drop style wheel, which is what I have, then the Lightning 12mm M-1012-C will fit.
AFS sellls wheels with 14mm holes so maybe that's where the confusion came from or you talked to Isabel. Both my stock lug nuts and the lightning lug nut have the flat, free floating base.
Are you planning to use the lightning nut with your stock wheel?
Go to Ford Racings parts search and bring up type veh-F-150 and scroll down to Lug nut. Also look up a dealer, they'll hook you up.

Right now I have 12mm 98 model teardrop wheels, and I'm installing the FX-4's. I just got a chance to see an FX-4 truck up close, but it was dark of course. They are chrome, hex shaped, with a round tip. I'll be able to figure it out once I can look at the wheels, and the lug nuts in the same place. That will be a month or more from now, unfortunately.,,,,98
