How fast are you looking to go? Do you want a drag radial tire or a full slick? Or an E.T. Street? If you're looking for a slick tire, then you want to look into a set of Mickey Thompsons or Hoosiers. Drag Radials is a whole different ball game. If you're running a slick, I'd just get a cheap set of tires...something ugly like a mustang turbine or 10 hole wheel, because you won't be driving too long on the streets with a slick tire on the back, especially when it rains. You need to look into these things, and decide which is better for you. Most of the guys I hang out with (mostly fox body mustangs) are running e.t. streets on an extra set of welds. Welds look awesome on a lightning, but like I said, if you're gonna be riding around, you're gonna look goofy with 2 different sets of wheels, and welds aren't too cheap.

Hoosier also makes a pretty awesome drag radial...they're called quicktime pros.

Here's a full slick:

And here's a drag radial:

I recommend Hoosier or Mickey Thompson for drag racing. Nitto also makes very nice drag radials. http://www.nittotire.com

If you're looking to keep the car 'streetable' go with a drag radial, if you're using these tires to strictly race, and then bolt on a set of street tires afterwards, go with a slick or a quicktime pro. Hope that helps.

Thumbs up Thanks Larm

I think I'm heading toward MT ET Street 26-11.50x16(3.55gears)
16x10 rims are hard to find in a 135-5 pattern.
Thanks again for all the help.

Thumbs up

Not a problem. I'm heavily into drag racing. Let me know how they work out for you. Also, before you run them, make sure you do your research on tire pressure with a slick tire. Usually on a mustang, most guys run about 12-16psi in the tires with a slick tire. It helps the tire hook up a lot better then running with more pressure. Be sure to let me know what times you net. Good luck.
