Pleae help....

Can somone copy/scan the page in chiltons manual that tells how to tighten the parking brake cable? My Haynes manual doesn't have it, the local dealership won't copy the page for a few bucks for me (even though I bought some damn brbakes there!) and the auto parts store wants 35 for teh manual!

Please help. The cable is so loose the brakes don't work!

I'm also going to try to drop you an email on this.

I got what I think you are looking for in 2 pdf files from the Helms manual on CDRom.

The version I have is for a F-150 2001.

If I cannot find an email in your profile, just send me an email via my profile and we can get it done.

assuming you have rear drum brakes..

the cables are loose because your shoes are not adjusted properly. check the manuel,do the procedure and see how it is after. tip: if your not sure you,ve adjusted them out enough, find a nice big(not being used)parking lot and follow the procedure in the book about backing and hittin the brake(at a very slow speed) this will help balance the two measurements out using the self adjuster in the rear brake assembly, this should eliviate your problems..good luck :)

Check to see that the automatic adjuster mechanism is lubed up and working correctly.

Remove the rear wheels and drums and inspect the components.

If the brakes don't work then it doesn't matter how the parking brake is working or not. You either have some defective components or they are way out of adjustment.

Any Luck with this ?

I was lookng at the Helms manual on the CDRO, and there was a section that says the parking brake it not self adjusting..I glanced over it and did not read the details.

I wanted to see if you got this fixed or not, and see if maybe I should email the text on the rear axle sections.
