Unhappy leaking brake line

I was changing the tranny fluid in my F150 the other day and noticed something dripping from the front left rubber brake line that leads from the caliper. On further inspection none of the fittings were wet but the line was wet in the center of the hose underneath the protective sleeve. I took it to the dealer and they said something probably just splashed on there, but I dont know, the fluid looked a lot like brake fluid to me. Has anyone else had a problem like this? The dealer said they'd want about $90 to replace the line. I'm definately going to keep a close eye on it. Eric

if the lines are old the rubber can crack and squirt fluid out when the brakes are applied

While certainly possible, leaking brake lines are rare. If the exterior of the hose does not look like a 20 year old sun-weathered tire AND your truck isn't 20 years old -- then simply wash it off and watch for a reoccurance of the drip.
