15 inch rims

15 inch rims
I used to have a 97 f150 ( I believe it is described in my signature) with 15x10 eagle alloy wheels. I now have a 2000 f150 and am looking for the same 15 inch wheels. I bought my last ones used off ebay and they worked fine, however every tire dealer i visit claims that 15 inch rims will interfere with my brake calipers. Is that true? Is this different than my old truck?
also does anyone know where i can find some eagle alloy wheels at a decent price? Thanx

The 99 and up trucks have larger rear brakes than the 97-98s, which cause clearance problems. Eagle Alloys still makes one wheel with a 5 on 135mm bolt pattern. This is the only 15 inch wheel I know of which has our bolt pattern, so you don't have any choice when it comes to style. I beleive this is only made in a 15x10 and has like 2.5 inches of backspacing. This means the wheels are going to stick out about 5 inches further than the stock rims since they have around 4.5 inches of backspacing and are 7 or 7.5 inches wide. This means you are going to have all sorts of problems with fender clearance. For instance, you can fit a 33x12.50 (305/70) on 16x10 inch rims on a stock 4x4. I don't think you could come close to running 33s on a stock truck with those 15x10s. As you can see it is much, much easier to use a 16 or 17 inch rims which have proper backspacing and offer you a wide selection of styles.

I just want to reiterate exactly what Wandell said. Also, kinda going on the 99+, Im not 100% sure, but its something like they used drum brakes in the rear or something like that, starting in 99 and now 15's won't fit on the 99 or newer trucks.
Besides, just like what Wandell said, with that much backspacing with 15's anyways, you might as well go with a 16, 16.5, or 17 wheel if you want to go with a bigger tire.

I know that the 15x10s will make the tires stick out, that is the look I had and want again, I also know 33's will not fit without any kind of lift. Does anyone know If there is something I can do to my brakes to make 15" rims fit, and somewhat what it would cost. Thanx for the previous answers to my question. I am pretty much deadset on 15" rims though.

For what its worth...I tried fitting a 15"x10" rim onto the front of my 2001 4x4 ORP w/17" rims stock. It hit the caliper, and there was no way it would fit.
Question...The bolt pattern on this truck is METRIC? 135mm instead of the old 5" or was it 5 1/2" that Ford used for years and years?
