35"BFG's under a 3"body lift?
 

Hello,
I'm trying to make the final touches on my decision. This was my plan, a 3" PA body lift with 35" BFG mud terrains on my 98' F-150 4x4 with stock rims. Will this work out? Without access to a body shop, can some friends and I install the lift kit within a day if they are somewhat knowledgable? Thanks for any help!

Yeah, it will work. I would add some 10inch wide rims when you can. The wider track will help offset the higher center of gravity caused by the body lift. I have installed two body lifts before (both on Chevys). It wasn't hard, just time consuming.

Exactly what wandell said. It can be done. You may have to do some trimming of the valance to get the tires not to scrub. The best thing when doing a body lift by yourself is to have some extra people to help. Other than that just a case of beer. And as always air tools are a big help. The truck will handle fine with the stock wheels and 35s. I haven't had a problem yet and I have 15,000 miles on since I lifted it and went with this size tire. No need to trim the valence with this combo either. I did have my torsion bars cranked up about 3.5 turns though. However the tread on the tires contact the frame slightly at full lock. Never hits on any driving conditions including when I offroad. Only hits when the wheel is turned to the bumpstops. It is just a pain during inspection time. I JBweld a 0.25" plate onto each bumpstop for inspection every year and they don't hit then. I pull off the plates after inspection to bring back my full turning radius again.


In all I couldn't be happier with this combo. To me it looks better than any aftermarket wheel and tire package, it handles great, it was inexpensive to do, etc, etc, etc.

what are the size of your stock rims, BFG only makes 35's in 16.5 17 and 18" sizes. If you have 16's youll have to go with a 305 or 315, which are more expensive than their non metric counterparts.

BFGs 315/75-16 is essentially a 35x12.50-16. If you look a BFGs spec sheet you can see they are almost identical in size to their 33x12.50-16.5.
