33s on my stock f150?

i really want to put bigger tires on my truck, but i want to keep the stock 17 inch wheels. that does not leave many options. my truck is a 99 f150 4x4(completely stock) i want the procomp 33 12.5 17s. i need to know if they will fit without rubbing or what i need to do. a lift (body or suspension) is not in my budget. can you help?

TubaMan 03-11-2002 02:42 AM

from what i have been told, they will. however, as for the lift, you can crank the tortion bars for an inch or 2 & a set of rear blocks are around $50.00 :) so don't say a lift is too expensive :P

I have a 99 4x4 with 33 - 12.5 - 16.5...... the back fit with no problem. On the front I just had to trim the lower fairing below the bumper. You can't tell that they have been cut when looking at the truck from the front. I guess I can't tell they have been cut at all! Go for it. They look great!

thanks tubaman and zausser. tubaman, what does cranking the torsion bars entail? really all i know how to do is drive my truck and change the oil. i am not even sure what a torsion bar is. sorry, just being honest. can you help? is this something i should do myself? also, same thing with the rear blocks. how much should i expect to pay a shop like four wheel parts or any offroad accessory shop to crank my torsion bars and install rear blocks? any suggestions or info would be great!

zausser, your truck sounds kick ass , personally I like a tuck with tires that fill up the wheel wells.

I have 315/75-16's on my expy, an just trimmed the front bumpervalance as well. Got wheels with a slighty negative (compared to stock) and no rubbing at all! And they do fill up the wheel well!

33x1250x17" Pro Comp Mud terrains

Hey man I have a 2001 F150 4x4 Sport. My truck came with 265x70x17"s and I went to pro comp and they put 33x125x17's on my stock rims. They are awsome. I got the nicest in factory chrome rims on it and I did not want to buy more rims. The tires dont rub at all and I have had them for 8 months. Plus the tires were on sale they had buy 3 get 1 free. Id say they are the best for the money. This is my 3rd truck I had some bfg all terrains on the first 2 but all terrains suck in the mud. Pro Comp is the only way to go. Ill post a picture of my truck in a couple of days if you are intrested.

Well, from what i have been told, it's just turning up a bolt a little bit, people do it on chevys all the time, but you will need an alignment after (like any suspention modification), and it may ride a little differently. The other option is ofset keys for the tortion bars.

How A Tortion bar works, is when force is applied to it, it twists, therefore giving you your spring, the more force, the more it twists. These are usually made out of spring steel, so they can stand up to the abuse of that will be applied to it :)

33x12.5x17 procomp

I'm interested in seeing the pictures of the pro comp 33x12.5x17's .my truck is a 99f150 with orp. I have 17 inch wheels. I thought about going with 285x75x16's and buying new 16 inch wheels. How much do the pro comp tires cost, and have you notices any power loss. thanks!

Chevy Killer--
I added some pictures to "my gallery" if you want to see some pictures of the ProComps. I still need to add some other pictures I got, but these should give you an idea of what they look like.....

Also, 4 Wheel Parts has some buy 3 get one free deals on ProComps (nothing right now), check out their site...http://4wheelparts.com/

What does 315/75-16's mean, is that equal to like a 31 inch tire?

MitchF150 05-13-2002 08:19 PM

315 is the width in mm
75 is the aspect ratio. It's a percentage of the width (75% of 315)
16 is the wheel diameter.

So, this 315/75/16 tire is about 34.6 inches tall and over 12.5 inches wide. It's a big friggin tire!!

P.S. You would need new wheels with this size of a tire, refering to your other post......:D
