33's on off road pkg.
 

I need new tires, and noticed that someone said 33's fit and dont rub on a 17 inch off road pkg. Before I order these things I need to make sure of this. If anyone has pictures that would be great. I am going with the mud terrain, and remember I don't have a lift on my truck. Any ups or downs on these tires and the upgraded size would be appreciated.

Thanks for the pictures. I see you have some interesting travels. You probably would like some of the off roading here in WV. Never been myself. Those 33's really dont seem to be much bigger. I am sure they are, but it is hard to tell. I will have to print the picture off and compair to mine. can you give me some measurements. Like tire to top of fender well. Thanks for the help.

they are only about 1 1/2" bigger then stock (that means 3/4" closer to the fender well then your stock tire). If I remember right I still have about an inch and a half between the fender and the tire at full turn. All that will be no longer pretty soon though... I'm putting on a suspension lift and putting on 35"s (pro-comp all-terrains)

Hey I appreciate the help. For some reason I was thinking that they would look alot more beefy. They do look good I must add. The tires that I have now are made by Dean and they are all terrain, 6 ply's. I payed $110.00 a piece for them, and they have been good tires. I would say about 40,000 miles and still have a little bit to go. All together it ran me $465.00 mounting and balancing. So do I pay that price again, or do I pay $588.00 shipping, plus mounting and balancing ??? MMMM there is one to think about ...by the way, you got a nice looking truck. Thanks again.

Seems like you like Pro-Comp’s. Is there a site to view them? I’m running 265/70-17, but interested in bigger tires on the stock lift/wheels.

It looks like you have the All Terrains, have you had any experience with the Mud Terrains, or do you know of anyone with them? From you picts, I am assuming that the all terrains must be pretty good in the mud as well as the snow??? I had been looking at getting a set of the pro comps with 4wheelparts deal they have now, but wasn't sure of how they would fit on my truck. I'm glad you answered my questions about them fitting.:)

I personally have no experience with the mud terrain, but I know of other people that have them and like em a lot. Another thing to look into is their X-Terrain. I've heard that is just an incredible bitchin tire as well. As for the question on the all-terrains.
Yes. So far they have worked great in everything I've tested them on. That means driving in icy conditions of denver, putting over 20,000 miles on them so far doing cross-country trips, off-roading in the mountains of colorado, as well as muddin in indiana. So far theres nothing about em I haven't liked.

I've got the Mud Terrains on my truck. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out what they really will do off road other than driving through some fields. They do look good though. IMO.

IMHO Any brand MT compared to the same brand AT will fair better in most Off Road conditions. What you have to be carefull about is on the street. An AT will put more rubber on the road compared to an MT. In the rain and on ice the AT should fair better because of the larger contact patch. On a dry road the MT will seem to be equal until you push the limits of the truck. MY MTs will squeal at a lower speed when I take an off ramp compared to the ATs. I have seen speeds well in excess of 100 mph with my MTs (BFG 285/75 R16) and nothing happened. Except for the gas gage dropping. ;)

When you put 33's on with stock 17inch wheels and no gear change did you notice any loss of power? Thinking about doing the same thing but need to gather as much info as possible. Also, do you know the stock rim width. Thinking about going to 17x8 and don't know if that will make a difference (rubbing, etc.)

I still have plenty of power though admittadly I have lost power when doing it. When I do my suspension lift and 35"s I'll probably be going to either 4.10 or 4.56 gears to make up for that loss.
