Weatherproof Calipers and Rotors

The other day I had my front wheels off my truck and happen to take a look at my brake pads, calipers, and rotors. Even though they were just replaced 15k miles ago, they were completely ravaged by New England weather (the truck is 12 years old) to the point that entire flakes for rust had clogged up all the veins in the rotor, and piled up in the calipers where the pads meet. Not to mention one of the slide pins is now seized even though I greased the crap out of it. This was just the drivers side too, I didn’t even bother looking at the passenger side, figured it’s just as bad.

So long story short, I’m looking to replace calipers, pads, and rotors with ones that are coated to prevent rust. Wondering if anybody has any experience with these, if these hold up, and if you recommend certain brands or just as importantly, staying away from certain brands?

I plan on going through Rockauto for parts if that helps at all. Also, I currently have Wagner TQ semi metallic pads, which I planned on replacing with same. Rockauto also carries Wagner TQ semi metallic pads for “severe duty”, anybody know the difference? They’re both semi metallic..

The best brakes I've found for the NE, are drum brakes.

Discs just get too much sand and salt in them.

Unfortunately, more and more vehicles are coming with disc brakes.

My opinion: All that hardware: Rotors, calipers, pads, are all consumable items.
