ABS tone ring

Anyone have any idea what would happen if the ABS tone ring in the rear end was removed? Would the abs light on the dash light up? Truck has rotors up front and drum brakes in the rear. 2 wheel Rabs is what they call it I think. Thanks

Don't feel bad for not knowing answer cause guy at Ford dealership didn't know either. He thought it was on the axle.

You would think after adding brand new sensor abs light would come back on but it didn't. Old sensor turned abs light on and code said bad sensor so it was replaced with a new one. Reset ECM and no abs light anymore.

why would you think that?
ABS does self diagnostic upon start up everytime.

If the tone ring was removed from the rearend YES the light would come on regardless of what other sensors were replaced or what you reset....

Not on my truck it didn't. Didn't know at the time that it would reset itself. Tone ring had come loose and half of the ring gear bolts were sitting on the bottom. Didn't have the time or money to take rear end apart so tone gear was removed. I replaced all bolts with ARP hardware and added aluminum cover with supports and let her ride.
