Need Some Tire & Wheel Advice Please
 

Hi guys,

I'm driving down to Edmonton tomorrow from Whitehorse to pick up the 2019 F-150 Limited I just bought from the dealership.
The only issue with this truck that doesn't appeal to me is that it comes standard with 22 inch rims and the tires are Pirelli P275/45R22 all seasons. (90% wheel and 10% tire)
I just checked the reviews on these tires for winter driving and everyone who has them sgrees they are ****e in the snow.

Since I live in the Yukon, I need good quality dedicated snow tires which is what I have now on my 18 Explorer Sport)

Since there are no tire options available for a 22 inch wheel, what about if I got a smaller wheel and bigger tire?
My goal is to have good quality winter tires on winter wheels without changing the diameter because I don't want to have to change the speedo and have to recalibrate everything.

SO for you wheel and tire experts, what size wheel and tire would you recommend that will give me the winter traction I need without changing the overall diameter?

Your 22's are 31.7" diameter. Tires that are the same diameter plus or minus an insignificant amount with compatible rim widths are:

265/70R17 7" to 9"
275/65R18 7.5" to 9.5"
275/55R20 7.5" to 9.5"

All those sizes are available in good winter tires such as Bridgestone Blizzak and Michelin X-Ice, and in P-metric or LT.

In addition to buying wheels and tires, you will need TPMS sensors. For 2019, depending on model and trim package, Ford offers 17", 18", 20" and 22" tires on the F-150 so finding compatible wheels should be easy. All 3 of the tire sizes I mentioned are available from the factory.

You know they will track you down like a dog if you cut your ankle bracelet to travel that far to pick up a truck!

I cant believe they gave me 4 days off work, they usually keep me chained up here like a dog, lol

If you can find or swap out for an 18/20 inch wheel you will likely be happier. As said this is a 31.7 inch diameter which is pretty much stock. As you live in snow country a tire like say falken Wildpeak AT3 would be a very good tire for the road conditions up north. Here is a great website for checking tire diameters, etc.
