Take it to a mechanic that 1) knows how the system works and 2) knows what he's doing.

This company has an expensive fix.

Are you still dealing with this issue? Have you attempted to manually lift the emergency brake pedal (with your hand) as you pull the brake release? I ask, because I just had this issue with my 2013. Manually lifting the pedal popped it to the required level to turn off the light (and the beeping). When I took it to the dealership, they ultimately had to replace the entire mechanism from the pedal, all the way back to the brakes themselves. And the cabling. It was quite the situation.

I took it to a different shop and they passed my inspection so I'm not gonna worry about it was probably just a sensor gone bad

russ, I had the same issue on my '07. They had to replace everything. Luckily it was all covered under the ESP.

It would've been sticker shock if I would've had to pay for it. Labor and parts would've been crazy!

It all started when one day my parking brake was hard to engage. Then the e-brake light would go on or wouldn't go out if I released the e-brake. Or I'd be driving down a bumpy road, and it would suddenly come on. So I'd turn on my 4-ways, get out of the truck, and play a song and dance with the e-brake till it went out. Not fun!

Although I need my parking brake because it's a standard shift. I don't trust just leaving it in gear, plus it's a habit.
