255/80/17

Just wondering if anyone on here has put 255/80/17's on their truck? I have seen some pics of cummins and super duty trucks with them, but not for an 04+ 150. I am not in need of tires, for awhile yet, but am considering them for some MPG gains, and a little less strain on my lil 4.6L 2v. I kinda am liking the Mastercraft Courser CXT's.

Those tires would be fairly tall wouldn't they? They may not relieve any strain on the engine.

Still a 33", like I have now, but narrower and lighter. I have 33x12.5x17 now. With my gears, I don't want to go shorter on tire height.

If you go off road you may not want to give up the traction. I just put larger tires on my truck because I drive out on the beach and I need the flotation.

I go off road, but nothing crazy these days. 255 is the stock width, for my truck, just as an FYI. I ran 285/70/17 prior to what I have now. The price was simply too good to pass up, when I bought my current set. I did lose a couple MPG or so when I went to the 33x12.5 vs the 285x70. Apparently this size is somewhat popular with the jeep and tacoma crowd, from what little I have read.

It will work. But I doubt you'll notice much difference.

Well the hope is to gain the MPG that I lost, going to my 33x12.5', and maybe a little more than that going back to stock width. Less weight and rolling resistance should help. My weak motor needs all the help it can get.

255/80/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3 on Granite Alloys

I just recently put on a Bilstein 6102 level kit on my f-150 and paired it will the 255/80/17s. I'm a huge fan of the tall and skinny look and driving experience. Here are some photos for reference:
