Wheel tire clearance question 2010 4x4 Crew

What I have is a 2010 Crew Cab 4x4.
I purchased a wheel and tire combo with level kit and had it installed about 2 years ago.

Wheels are Fuel Throttle 20x9 with what I think I have measured as 5.5 backspacing. Tires are Amp MT 275-60-20.

This past weekend I hit the median with concrete curb at about 45mph and tore the sidewall up pretty good and knocked the alignment out or bent something in the front end.

Now time for a new set of tires which leads the question--how much bigger can I go with the wheels I have?

Looking for thoughts on something 34 inch tall less than 12 inch wide as Im sure that's about all I can get without rubbing.

The tires do not have to be MT but that's what Im used to so AT or MT would work. In FL its not that rough of terrain. The truck sits most of the time in the driveway and now has about 46000 miles.

I'd suggest Toyo's or Nitto's. As for size, you're correct. Either a 33x12.50 or a narrower 34 inch tall tire.

During the summer I run a BFG KO 285/65/20 on 20x9 with 5.5 backspace and really like them. Big enough to fill the wheel wells and narrow enough not to rub or rob a guy's towing power.

I have 295/60/R20 on Fuel Dune with 5.5" backspace. Had to trim a little plastic but no rubbing. These would be 0.7" shorter but 0.4" wider than Dog'em's.

Here is the truck in question
The tires look small in the pictures but for all intensive purpose look adequate in person.

I wonder what it would take to trim and fit the Toyo RT 305-55-20 ?

Maybe you can get a shop to test fit some for you?

275/60/20 = 33" x 10.8"
285/65/20 = 34.6" x 11.2"
295/60/20 = 33.9" x 11.6"
305/55/20 = 33.2" x 12.1"

I live in an area where the median age is around 65 !! All of the leg work must be done before I go in as there are not any shops that will work with you around here. In fact they balk at the idea of not putting on tires that are spec in the manual.

I have to get it as close to correct before hand or its like inventing the wheel all over again.

That is essentially a 33x12.50. It should fit easily.

Toyo Open Country AT2 295/60/20 Extreme

Toyo Open Country AT2 295/60/20 Extreme

Dropping truck off tomorrow to get these put on. If I did my homework they should slide nicely in there. If not its getting some hammer treatment.

Here are a couple of pictures with the tires cleaned up with the clearcoat dressing. It has been a few weeks and the shine has not reduced.

I run a 325/50R20 with very little trimming. small amount of rub driver side occasionally when traveling over bumps in slow turning
