wheel retro-fit

first of all; hello to everyone im a new member here. reason for this thread is to ask if someone has re-drilled the new style wheels so that they can fit the 5x135 hubs, if so which center caps did you use? there was a guy here in houston selling a set he had on his truck, but i never really got to ask him what was involved besides having my trusty wheel shop plug and drill them for me. if anybody can help me i would greatly appreciate it

Switching bolt patterns from different lug counts is not really a good idea. There will be weaknesses in the rim where the plugs were welded in as no matter how you plan it some areas will be reused. Pretty much the only way to retrofit wheels would be to keep the same lug pattern ie 5x135 <-> 5x139.7 or 6x135 <-> 6x139.7

Yea redrilling them isn't a great idea. Especially if they'll see street time or anything over around 20mph or so.

Ive seen re-centered wheels which a lot of people do in the rock crawling area but none of them would run them on the street. And trying to plug the old lug pattern and then drill new holes just sounds like its gonna be trouble and pretty unsafe. Is there any particular reason you wanna do this?

It would probably be safer to run a wheel adapter than to have the wheels re-drilled. Like chrmar said, its hard to do it when going from a 6-lug to a 5-lug, because it will weaken the wheel from areas being reused.

And even then wheel adapters aren't the safest route.

maybe that is the reason why he was selling his, the reason why i wanted those is simply trying to be different and i really think they would look nice on there just not nice enough to jeopardize my life over!!
