I have a new 2011 F150 XLT 8ft bed regular cab
Nice truck.. All the bells and whistles. I have Ford discount through family so you know it was a good truck.

I bought it with standard rims and wheels. 17 in 235 75 17
I did not like them, but when I bought It I wanted to go with aftermarket rims

I choose the Crave NX2 brand with Nitto 265 70 17, at the advise of a shop called dubsandtires.com

The price was fair, but the shop is about an hour and a half away from me.

3 months ago 06/27/2011 they installed the tires and rims.
I have to work that night.

Going home I notice some bounce in the back of the truck. It was not there before the tires were installed.

Im about 30 miles away from the shop and need to get home to go to work.

I did not have time to go back to the shop and get to work on time so I stopped by the Ford dealership.

Set and appt for AM and went on the way, still bouncing.

The next morning I went to the dealer, said the sensor in the tire was broken and it was not in the tire so it was broken when I left. Yes the pressure sensor was on. New truck not familiar with the warnings.. had less than 300 miles on it then

Also said the tires were not balanced as they should have been. Charged me 330 for a road force balance.

Next day they still bounce. very noticeable.

I called the tire shop dubsandtires.com and questioned them.
Said I should have taken it back to them.

1 week or so later I was able to get back into them. They tried changing out a back tire only. It did not fix the bounce.
6 hours in the shop and they rebalanced every tire and rim. Still a bounce.

They tried to call 2 crave but got bs from them, so I had to call and raise hell. Finally 2 crave sent a rim as a replacement.

long time later the rim is installed. and it still bounces, now worse.

I went to Ford dealership, and had them put on OEM tires.

They work fine.

I understand that it is the tires and or rims that are aftermarkets causing this but has anyone ever experienced anything like this

Aftermarket rims that cannot be balanced?

I had the dealer check the U Joints , differential, brakes, and drums as well as the lugs. Nothing wrong.

Dubsandtires.com says that they will sell me new 20 inch rims and tires at cost and they will sell the tires and rims for me and apply that money to the new rims.

Are they screwing me.

Aftermarket tires and rims balance using road force on machine

Drive Shaft is fine

U Joints are fine

Tires on the aftermarket rims have been changed on aftermarket rims, but they still bounce

With Ford rims and standard hankook tires on the truck it rides smooth

With aftermarket rims with nitto grappers on its got a bounce, but only once the tires get warm.

any ideas?

Read yourroblem earlier, tell em o make it right or take it back, any issues and charge it back, seems like too much bs for walking in and having them match rim and tire, if you bought it on craigslist and tried having a shop install that's one thing but out of the box retail you should be headache free, my .02 cents

Dubsandtires.com has said that they will let me buy a new set of tires and rims at cost

MotoMetal M0965 wtih Nitto 18" 6x135 cost they say is $1850

They want me to pay up front and then return the 2 Crave 17 in 6x135 and Nitto 265/70/17 back to them and they say they will sell them for me and once sold will give me the money.

I think this is BS and I am about 10 seconds away from going to court

The current tires that do not work cost 1550 plus I have put another 330 at the Ford dealer to have them check them out because they are aftermarket, not to mention gas and time... 300 miles round trip x5
Its over 2000 easy because of this.
Now they want another 1850 for a new set.

Please post your thoughts on this and advise on how you would handle it.

 

are you using the correct type of lugnuts for your aftermarket wheels?

I am using what was given from dubsandtires.comm
The rims are hubcentric at a bore of 87.1 and the hub is 87.0
It should not be an issue, and they say everything was checked.

Thing is when OEM Ford tires are on, the truck rides so smooth.

Its a standard sizes lug, and they fit tight. Ill try anything at this point.

 

OEM tires on OEM wheels with factory lugs?

or OEM tires on AM (aftermarket) wheels?

 

I called a few minutes ago and voiced my dissatisfaction with the offer.
kellum the owner of the shop says now that he will try and return the product to the manufacture for full credit.
I have spoken with 2crave in the past, and they know of the issues.
Nitto I have no contact with.

For some reason the combination of Nitto Terra tires and 2crave NX2 rims at 17 6x135 dont work.

I have to assume its the products.

 

Ford used OEM tires on OEM wheels

I wanted them to put the 2crave and Nitto on a truck there, but was told they could not since they were aftermarket rims and they would not do that.

 

Anyone here have the MotoMetal M0965 18 with Nittto Terra Grapplesr on a 2011 F150 and did you have any problems?

Any ideas about this tire combo they suggest?

So far yesterday I did not hear anything more from them.
Again I hope its not another week where this is ignored until I have to call and bring it up again.
Its Thursday now. Lets hope they come back with an acceptable offer to fix this issue.

Good news today from Dubsandtires.com
They have gone the extra distance to make this situation right

They are going to give a full refund on the tires and rims and then replace them with another set of 20 inch Moto Metals with Nittos for cost.

The owner of dubsandtires.com , Kellum, went into detail after much research about aftermarket tires and rims on the new fords on what is the correct tire and rim to use.

He spoke with several engineers from ford on this, and it turns out not every tire and rim combination should be used. Some just will not work well.

As for me, I think this is a good route for me to take. although its been some time, Im very glad they did come up to the plate and do what was right.
