Should i go 17 or 18" wheels for 35" tires?

Just picked up my 2006 4x4 XLT and will be installing the 2.5" AS leveling kit and definitely want 35" wheel/tire package. What i really cant decide is if i want 17 or 18" wheels. The two wheels i have narrowed down to are either the Moto Metal 951s or the XD Monster 778s. If you have pics of your truck with 35" tires with 17 or 18" wheels please post them for comparison. Thank you.

I'd go with 18's or 20's. Also, if you want to run 35's with only a leveling kit you will need a wheel almost identical to the OEM specs. A 8 inch wide wheel with 5.5 inches of backspacing will allow you to fit 35x12.50's, but that wheel spec is had to find.

Thanks for the input. I have seen quite a few trucks on this site with 2.5" leveling kit that are running ~35" setups with aftermarket wheels. So you dont think XD 9" wide wheels will work with 35" tires?

It all depends on the backspacing of the wheel (unless you want to do anywhere from a little to a lot of trimming).

yea i think if you go to a 9" wheel your gonna have some rubbing issues but like quackr said all depends on how much trimming you want to do,,

Those XD wheels come in a 6x135 pattern with offsets of 12,18 or 35mm. Is one preferred over other for better fitment?

The 35 offset is going to be the closest to stock and provide the most backspacing.

That is good to know. Thanks for the reply.

Also, with this setup will the tires stick out at all? I kind of like the aggressive stance when the tiers stick out a tiny bit on a lifted truck.

You will have less offset than stock with a wider wheel, so they will stick out a little bit.

Searching all day to figure out this question. I read this thread end to end and most people say that with a 9" wheel you should go with an 18mm offset. I didnt see a mention of something larger. Just wondering....
