Here's what I'm thinkin'bout

I will soon need new tires. I could just get the tires but I'm also thinking with my track record of not keeping any vehicle more than about 3 years, I'll probably be moving up to an '11 or '12 F150 especially if the EcoBoost engine proves worthwhile and is as better on gas as advertised.

So with that in mind, I'd rather get the new tires on a new set of rims and keep the stock tires on the stock rims with a little bit of life on them. That way, i can put them back on the truck when I sell it.

I've been looking around at wheels. I'm pretty particular, and now I'm on a self imposed tighter budget than I was before. (I previously had Helo Maxx 6's with Nitto TG 325/60/18 on my 2005 King Ranch).

MB Motoring seems to make a decent wheel for the money and I like two of their models. I also like one or two of the ProComp's.

Here's what I photoshopped last night. (Thanks to hammer40 for posting his pics). I used an image of his wheel/tire for this. It's the MB Chaos.

*(BTW, this is my first try at photoshopping wheels onto a truck, so go easy on me. LOL)

I've not been able to find images of the Pro-Comp 6032 on a truck (see below).

Also haven't been able to find any of the other MB Motoring wheel, the Torque.

I like the one I've shopped here. Just a little worried about how that silver will look against my grey/red truck.

If ya'll got any thoughts on this, please post.

Those Pro Comp 6032 are nice!

TheKR Jan 29, 2011 01:10 AM

I agree. I really do like those best, but they're quite a bit more $$ so I probably won't be able to swing it.

Would love to see pics of a truck with those Pro Comp's on it.

Well whaddaya know. I was googleing again for pictures of these wheels on trucks.
First thing was funny. My google search returned THIS thread as the first result! LOL

But I did manage to find two sweet images of the Pro Comps on an F150 and a Dodge.
Check 'em out.

This was NOT what I needed. Now I'm going to have to find a way to get these wheels, cause they look sweet on that Ford!

Well, I ordered some stuff. Will post pics upon arrival.

THe MB's polished? It may just be my opinion, but i think the polished wheels are harder to keep. At least for me they are, im not an OCD'er, but i also dont like to sit and polish and polish. My chrome ones just wipe em off and occsional wax.just something to think about.

I like the MB Motoring Wheels better

TheKR Feb 5, 2011 09:46 AM

I think those MB's are powder coated. But i agree about the polished wheels needing a little more upkeep. That's what I've always heard.

I got my tires:
Hankook DynaPro ATm in 285/55/20. The tread patch is 10" wide. That's about 1 inch wider than the stock Pirelli's.

Which, BTW, I loved these Pirelli's when I first got the truck, they were quiet and smooth. But now with the tread wearing down, they slip a lot, especially on wet roads. And they still have probably 10k miles of life left.

Well, I got the wheels in....

Drum Roll....

I'm jonesing to get them on.
Thanks again to this forum for being a wealth of info. I didn't know about the tool loaner deal at Advanced Auto. I went there and got the 30mm impact nut and the Pitman puller so I could install my AutoSpring kit this weekend. Once I get that in, I'll be driving up to the shop to get the tires/wheels mounted and an alignment. So tempted to be "sick" tomorrow, but can't.

Thanks!
Very familiar with that area. Grew up in Orange Park and Middleburg. Now live in Switzerland just south of Julington Creek.

Thanks B-Babe!

Happy New Wheels!!!
its a holiday ya know!

You're gonna love that tire!!

Mine handle great in snow, water, dirt... I don't drive into mud...

I am creeping up on 30k now, and they still have great tread... and relatively quiet as well.

They were newer here... about 6k miles
