Decisions Decisions...Need New Tires (Nitto vs Cooper)

Ok, after exhaustive research on this site and others and continually asking questions, my head is starting to spin...

I have a 2007 SCrew 4x4 with the 20" factory wheels. I want to keep the factory wheels, do not want to install a level kit at this time and do not want to have any rubbing issues. My truck is on road only and does very little towing if any at all.

I have narrowed down my search to replace the stock 275/55-20 Pirellis with the following options:

Cooper Zeon LTZ
275/55-20 @ $202 each tire
305/50-20XL @ $198 each tire
305/55-20 @ $305 each tire

or

Nitto Terra Grappler
275/55-20 @ $196 each tire
305/50-20 @ $240 each tire
305/55-20XL @ $270 each tire
305/55-20/10 @ $303 each tire

Any and all opinions on the best choice of those listed above (or feel free to add a different option to the mix).

Thanks in advance for your input...:beers:

I had the 305/50/20 Cooper LTZ's and I now have the 275/60/20. The 305's rubbed the sway bar at full lock, the 275/60's do not and I think they ride a little better probably due to more sidewall. They are a little taller than the stock tire but you could fit them fine without a level. I would recommend going a size larger than stockers anyway. Just looks better. I've posted many times that I really like the Coopers.

If it were me I'd go Cooper I'm just not a fan of Nitto's. Everyone I know thats had Nitto's has HATED them. These pepole don't abuse their tires or anything all of them said the Nitto's wore extremly fast.

So these tires come in at $200 each tire:

Cooper ZEON LTZ Tire- 275/60R20XL 119S BW

Is that what you went with?

Yes that is the tire. I don't know where you got your quote from but treadepot has them for $174 right now. But if $200 is local and includes the mount and balance that is a good price. I got my first set from treadepot for about $165 each. The current set was replaced by Cooper due to a tire issue so I can't give you an exact price.

Here is a link to the thread https://www.f150online.com/forums/wh...well-sort.html

Byhalia tire and Battery mounted both sets for me and the second set came from them. They are a Cooper dealer.

The $200 price came from Sears.com. I would assume that if I bought them from Sears that price would NOT include mounting and balancing. The closest Sears I can think of would be all the way up at Wolfchase.

I have been looking at TireBuyer.com which once you order the tires and select the dealer/shop to send them to, the total price includes mounting and balancing.
The local dealer/shop that would be the closest to us is Raliegh Tire in Olive Branch on Goodman Road.

I will have to check out the link you provided.

I went through a couple of shops on my first set before they got balanced right. Byhalia tire and Battery has a road force machine and knows how to use it. The also have a tire machine that removes and mounts the new tire without touching the wheel. I saw one like it once on Overhaulin. To be such a hole in the wall type place they really are tops on this kind of stuff and very helpful. The service there really has sold me and I will go back on my next set most likely. I know they can get the LTZ's you might want to get a price form them. Even if you order online they will mount and balance them. I think the charge is about $100 for all 4 best I remember.

I have used Raliegh in OB a time or two, in fact they just recently replaced my lower ball joints and they did a good job.

If you'd like to see the tires on my truck let me know. I could meet you someplace if you want.

Awesome tire...With free shipping. 183$

Pick your size. I'd go one size taller than stock. 275/60/20

Plus if you call them and act hesitant, and try to haggle with them, they will give you a better deal.

I got 15$ off per tire last time i ordered. It was for my tacoma, but still, same tire. 50k mile warranty.

ab46501 and kris77 - thanks for the info.
I think I need to give Byhalia Tire & Battery a call!

I originally went in to Raleigh Tire in OB because they have the big Cooper Tires sign on the front of their shop so I assumed that they were a Cooper dealer but was disappointed when I went in to ask and the guy was like "is that sign still up there? We are not a dealer any more." :(

Thanks again for the info and offer to meet to see the tires. Unfortunately I work Monday thru Fridays out in Las Vegas and am only home on the weekends so I am not sure about coordinating a meet and greet, but will keep you posted. :beers:

Yes it is, but in an effort to stay employed it is unfortunately necessary until I can find something else (and after almost 18 months of this "commute" I am ready to find something else).

I have been able to rack up quite a bit of frequent flyer miles!!

And the new enhanced pat down procedures by the TSA make it more fun than ever to go through airport security!! :smoke:
