Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor

I am ordering new tires tomorrow. I am getting LT285/70/17's. I am leaning towards the Silent Armors. I have considered Hankook ATM RF10 and Revo2. Dealer can get most any brand. I like having the snowflake logo on the Goodyears. I have an 05 Scab 4x4 and will be putting in a 2" leveling kit. Any other ideas.

I have the 275/65/18 in the same tire and I hate them. I would go atleast with BFG ko.

I've got the 285/70/17's on mine and have since oct 2006. I love the tires, they look great, wear well and are really good in snow, rain and ice. Not like they'll save you on an icey road doing 100 km/h but what tire will. Absolutely nothing but praise here. Other members here say they same and if you search, some have your body style in this size plus a level kit, Nolongerjeepin and I think Fordsoldier to name a few I'm pretty sure that's their names. I've got pics in my albums.

+1 for hated them. they were noisy, rode like crap, and balanced terribly (5+ oz. of weight per wheel) i couldn't get any traction in the snow for the one winter i had them. even the lightest throttle and feathering the clutch would spin all four tires. you couldn't pay me to put another good year tire on my truck. i install tires all day long and we have more good years come back for vibration, out of round issues etc. than anything else, including the cheap-o $39 house tires.

i have the commerical grade D rated 285-70-17's silentarmor on my 2003. I like them so much that i will be getting another pair when these need replacing. i've got over 80000km now and i bet i can get another 20000km. there not even close to the wear indicators yet. great all around tire but especially in the snow & rain.

Have had mine since the fall.

Best tire I have ever had. Better then the BFG all terrian ko in every aspect.

I have no problem running 100km/h down an ice or snowy road in 2wd and not worrying about sliding around.

Will be rotating next week and they have no wear on the fronts or back. Had my snowmobile or quad in the back of the truck and they do not seem to wear at all.
Can't comment on the noise as the roads here are noisy on any tire BUT on new pavement they are quiet. But new pavement is rare lol. On gravel they are really good and one thing I have noticed is that they do no throw stones like other tires do.
I did lose 2 mpg but thats alright because they are a great all around tire where I don't have to worry about if I am going to be able to move in fields, on the lakes in the winter and on snow covered roads.

It's amazing varying opinions from the opposite end of the spectrum on these tires. I had the Silent Armors in a C rated tire on my '05 and I also loved them, everything about them. Quiet on the highway, great traction in snow and rain, and when I traded in the '05 I had 40k on them with a lot of tread left.

I will say they are every bit the tire the BFG is and produce less noise on the road.

Hey, I have a question. You said you lost 2 mpg. What tire did you have on before? Also, was there any change in size or gearing?

Thanks!

Stock BFG rugged trails.

But now my mpg is back up to what it was before but the grip is a hell of a lot better.
