Need Help
I recently changed the brakes on my truck with a friend and I guess he didn't torque down one of the brake caliper bolts because it came out and now my front caliper is hanging and slipping off the rotor. It happened on my way to work and I'd really like to get replacement parts today so I can drive it back home without having to spend huge money on towing.
It's a 2002 F150 5.4L Screw with rear disk brakes, if anyone has a Haynes manual that can tell me the product ID for those parts it'd help me out big time. another thing to look at is if the caliper is hanging off the rotor and it was driven like that (even for a short distance) you may have damaged the pads, caliper or rotor or a combination of the three. take a look at everything before you put it all back together.
that bolt had to have been pretty loose to just fall out. they don't take much torque. i usually just go a little past snug with a long handled 3/8 drive ratchet and i've never had any issues so your friend must not have tightened that bolt up at all. |
The original post is 4 months old. I certainly hope the guy got his truck taken care of by now! :lol: :thumbsup:
