35'' mud grapplers on factory 18''s

will i be able to fit a set of 35x12.50x18 mud grapplers on my stock 18'' lariat wheels without using wheel spacers? i know its going to rub at full lock, but what about with the wheels straight? are the tires going to hit the upper balljoints? i've seen some people do it and never mention anything about a spacer and then i've read on here that some say you'll have to have them.

if they rub with the wheels straight, how bad is it going to be? would it be ok just to let them rub and wear down the side tread til they clear?

Do you have any lift installed on your truck?

yea i have a 2.5'' leveling kit. i know i can fit them, i just need to know if they will hit the upper balljoint when going straight.

this is on a 04 supercrew 4x4. i'm running 325-60-18 baja claws on 18x10 rims now. i just want to put a set of 35'' mud grapplers on my stock rims.

I had this exact setup back in the day, and without 1/4" wheel spacers on the front those big a$$ side lugs on the mud graps will rub on the balljoint. The 1/4" wheel spacers will give you just enough clearance to run them. I ran them for about 15K with no problems. Mostly highway driving (almost went deaf) and some offroading too. Looks great though!

how bad will they rub on the balljoint? could you just run them without spacers and let the side tread wear down where it rubs the balljoint?

Are they really that loud? I love the look of the Mud Grapplers and want something a bit louder than my KM2s for my next set of tires, but if its unbearable then I wont consider them. How much louder are they than the KM2s?

Probably one of the baddest looking tires around, great for offroad use or on a show truck that does minimal highway driving. For everday use or if you do a lot of highway driving I think the BFG or Toyo would be a better choice. These last a lot longer and are quieter on the highway.

The mud grapplers are bearable but I've heard also that they sound louder on different trucks. Ex. the supercabs and supercrews have different length wheelbases and the supercabs that have them seem to sound a little louder but I feel that if you can't hear the tread then you aint got grip. I drive my truck on a daily basis and usually put on 3,000 miles in 3-4 month's.

i had a set of mud grapples on my f150 and f350 and highway driving sucked you talk on the phone because it sounds like a bi plane goin down the road plus they wear really bad i got maybe 10 to 15 k out of both sets

clawdsupercrew Oct 3, 2009 02:12 AM

i've already had one set of 33'' mud grapplers and got 33k miles out of them. i know how loud they are and how long they last and none of this is a problem.

They are pretty loud...sounds like a plane is right above you on the interstate. Compared to the km2's, mud graps are wayyy louder.

As for letting them wear down, they did a little bit until i put the spacers on. I wouldn't reccomend it. You'll feel it shaking constantly in the steering wheel and it could be very dangerous.
