Mickey Thompson ATZ, Who's Got them
I am in need of new tires, the MT ATZ are what I am looking at. Need some feedback on how they wear, ride, and handle different conditions. Any photos would be appreciated.
Thanks |
I've read nothing but good reviews on them. However, be aware that they come in two different tread patterns. On is for wider sizes, features raised black letters only and have a better looking (IMO) more aggressive tread. They also have "traditional sizes" that feature a choice of raised black letters on one side and raised white letters on the other and a more common looking tread pattern.

I've wondered what the difference is, because I looked at these also. Both are ATZ in the same size.

the bottom ones a good looking tire. i was goign to go with them but got my pro comps instead
|
I am looking at the second photo version of the tires.
Some of you have them, how do you like them? |
I know there's a member named bud he had them on his truck, but he sold his truck.
|
I had the radial atz on my f150 and loved em. The hum is minimal and they handled the road great. In the mud, I could still drive through muddy clay roads in 2w high and never have an issue except they were 33x13.5 and would kick mud everywhere. I sold the truck and now have a f250 and will be getting them for it too in the future.

I"ve been running them on my truck for about 8k now... still look brand new.. there is slight road noise... but coming from a set of bald Toyo Open Country AT's... maybe its really not that bad... was out in some mud after 2" of rain.. in a field... had no problems... never once got stuck in some real thick mud..
Here are a few pic's what i got... 305/55/20 ATZ Trad. https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...7-p1010025.jpg https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...9-p1010036.jpg https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...1-p1010022.jpg thats about the only pictures i have that are useful i guess... I love them, and my friends have BFG AT's and they say they love the look of mine better... real aggressive looking |
I love mine. I have about 10,000km (6k miles) on them and virtually no wear. I have mine rotated every oil change too though. They are louder than a standard AT time but not as noisy as an MT. Great looks and great road feel. I find they are a little more slick in the rain, but probably has something to do with the width of the time compared to my stockers.

Also, there are the 2 styles are ATZ;s. The most agressive ones (like on my truck) are the ATZ radials, the less agressive standard AT tires are called the ATZ plus radials.
|
For those of you with the MT ATZ, where did you get them and at what cost? Considering these as well vs Nitto Terra Grapplers.
|
I have 40x13.5/20 MT ATZ. Iam a dealer so I bought mine for $1350. They are on my trcuk now I just havent actually driven it yet.
|
mine cost $360CDN each, about $1600 after tax... 305-55-R20's.
Not sure what you can expect to pay in $USD though. The Nittos are an alright tire, but the 2 are nothing alike... From what i know, Toyo owns Nitto. The open country AT and Terra grappler is the same tire. I love my Mickeys. |
I paid 1300 installed at 4wheelparts.com went to their store to pick them up and they put them on. for the 305/55/20's
|
I have the radial plus, I paid $865 installed. bout $201 each, retail was $274.99 each. I have a friend that works for a tire distributor.
