Picked up some BFG's
 

Found these on a local craigslist add and couldn't pass them up. $800 CAD, never used. 325/60R20. I saw them on mfdengineers truck a while back and decided they were perfect. Thinking about powdercoating the stockers black and using them for rims. I hope they`ll fit after a level....

Those are some huge pics... :) Well I have no knowledge of tire sizes with 20's, so best of luck.

Those are 35x13.00 tires, I think you are going to have some rubbing issues. BTW are you sure those are new, dont look like it from the pics to me?

those tires are too wide for the OEM wheel. even with an aftermarket wheel i think they will still rub.

its not just rubbing on plastic either, you will prolly rub against the control arm with a tire that wide

but thats a great find, sounds like you just bought your self a suspension lift too :lol:

I knew I should have cleaned them and the truck before I posted some pics! They aren't exactly brand new, just barely used, all nipples intact. They were mounted on some 20X10 Mojave's on a show truck built by a local shop. Unfortunately it was a GM or I would have taken the them too. It was driven from the service bay to a display ramp and back a few times so they might have a mile on them....They are a bit dusty from sitting around and the white is the mould release. You can see in the second pic where I wiped my finger through it.

Thanks for the input. I'm skeptical about them fitting on the OEM wheel too and my local tire guy already told me they won't although I'm still hoping he`s wrong. mfdengineer has some pics in his gallery of a set on OEM 20's with just a 2.5 inch levelling kit but I can`t see how this much additional width wouldn`t interfere with the uca even when the tire is pointed straight ahead at stock backspacing. I`ll still probably mount one after a level to see if it can work. If not then I`ll just consider this phase 1 and be on the lookout for a proper lift and some rims. Stock wheels usually are only good for winter tires anyway :)

That seems to be the consensus. I hoped that this tire wouldn't be an issue since it isn't as aggressive as the Toyo's or some others but the width has always concerned me. The members I PM'd on here about this exact tire and size claim they aren't using wheel spacers so we will see...

Backspacing aside, is is safe to mount a 325 on an 8.5?

I think you'll be OK on a 8.5" wheel but as stated the width is going to be the problem rubbing on the control arm. Try mounting one on the front and do some full crank's and see how bad they rub. The BFG AT's may clear because of the sidewalls but it will be close.

I agree. But I think the problem may be them rubbing the upper ball joint constantly because of the 325mm width and the OEM wheel's 6.5 inches of backspacing. If this is the case, and it's barely touching, you could add a thin wheel spacer untill you can get a lift kit and aftermarket wheels. However, wheel spacers are generally a bad idea, especially on trucks prone to vibration issues like the 04-08 F-150's.
