24's or 26's

http://i39.tinypic.com/9j1t3s.jpg

Looking to go with 24's at least possibly 26's if i can get away with no rubbing without adding a leveling kit since its only 1" difference from the front and the back height difference, and the smallest leveling kit i have found is 2" and dont want it to sit up higher in the front than the back.

i measured from the ground to the fender i have 33" in the front and 34" in the back.
Then i measured from front to back in the wheel wells as in horiziontal in the front and back i got 36" so would i rub with 26's

These are some pics of the wheel wells with stock 17's with 275/60/17 tires on it

im sure you can find a 1" kit for your truck since im pretty sure 1 1/2" is the max for those control arms.

26's would just be to big for the truck IMO. 24's would probly look good.

i think if you leveled (which i recommend, make the truck look much better with large rims) you can probly fit about a 32-33" tire. and that would not be much rubber at all w/ 26's and you would probly bend rims alot

ok on average whats the thickness for the sidewall on low pros 26's compared to 24's i am trying to figure out what would be the difference in the overall height of the two

26's are getting into the ghetto side of things. 22's and 24's look perfect.

king ranch Dec 23, 2008 09:47 PM

is that a 4x4 truck or 2wd and how much did you drop it, i dont want to drop it at all or if i do only like a 1" drop in the rear to sit level with the front

what size tires are those you got, nvm seen they are 305/35/24 do you have any problems with the rims bending if you hit small potholes or anything like that or does it ride rough people say dont get a small sidewall or you will have damaged rims, the 26's i was looking at are 305/30/26 or the 305/25/26 or 305/35/24

I think 26's will look fine on a Supercrew since it is so large. Now if you start lifting a truck to fit 26's, well that's a different story.

ok so i should be able to fit the 26's correct and for tire size since i have around a total of 37" clearance should i go with 295/35/26, 305/30/26, or 305/35/26

dont want the tire sticking out over the fender incase i hit a bump and the tire comes up too much and damages the fender the rim is 10" so a 11.6" tire should work fine, what offset should i look to get

wandell Dec 24, 2008 12:25 AM

ANy of those should fit on a 10 wide wheel. I wish I new what backspacing/offset to tell you to get but my experience on the 97-03's is basically with the offroad style wheels/tires.

ok no problem so do you think i can get away with 26's with no leveling kit and no rubbing or minor rubbing

wandell Dec 24, 2008 10:10 AM

Honestly, I think you can. I wish I could help you more, but like I said, I just don't have a lot of advise on fitting big wheels on 97-03's. This is what I would suggest. First of all, don't get hung up on wheel size when asking for advise. Instead, concentrate on the overall height and width of the tire itself (might want to find a tire conversion size chart first so you can easily compare tires). I'd start a thread asking for pics and specs from members with large street style (20 to 26) wheel/tire combos on 97-03. Then just look at the wheel width, backspacing and tire heigth/width they are running and you should find a combo that will fit. For instance, if you find a member that fit a 305/45-22 (33 inches tall and 305mm wide) using a 10 inch wide wheel with 7 inches of backspacing, then you should be able to fit the same height and width tire with a 24 or 26 inch wheel. You may also want to do this on FTW and I'd contact our site sponsors here like the Tire Rack and Modbargains. Just keep in mind, if they don't have actual experience with this, they will probably have a fitment chart and those are usually a little conservative.
