BFG AT's vs. Nitto TG's......

I think BFG All Terrains are the favorites on this forum, huh ? I know they are great tires, and I had pretty much decided on BFG AT 285/70-17's.... But darn, those things ain't cheap, are they ? $215 at the place I was thinking I'd buy from (4wheelparts.com..... I can get online prices, and specials, but still pick them up only 45 miles from the house, so no ship + hand... and nice tire + wheel packages too)

But then I saw that I could get Nitto Terra Grapplers 295/70-17's for only $185 per tire ($120 savings for a set) ! They are yet another half inch taller than the BFG 285's though. Probably only about 1/4" wider.
Anybody know if these would still fit on my 2wd F150, with just a 2" level kit ?

Now, if I didn't mind dropping down to the 265/70/17 Terra Grapplers, I'd get a HUGE savings ! At only $125 each, I'd save $360 on the set ! That's a pretty big chunk for a poor man.

How do the Nitto's compare to the BFG At's in both road noise, and wear ?

Anybody ?

I'm sure this has been asked 100 times before, but forum searches never work for me....

Very similar road manners and wear. You won't be disappointed.

BFG's are over rated. Get the nittos. I ran them on my 98 silverado and loved them. lets us know what you decide.

BFG's they walk all over Nittos offroad. On road the nittos will be quieter, niether is that loud. I wouldnt trust any company that makes and abomination like the Nitto Mud Grapplers! just my .02

The Terra Grapplers are a glorified street tire... honestly if you want something different then go look at Mickey Thomspon ATZ they are really nice.

The Terra Grapplers are an excellent tire. You can't go wrong with either.

Hey 4.2trimble, those Mickey Thompson's are some nice looking tires too. Comparable prices... Nice size choices...

Hmmm,

I had the Nitto T/G’s & I was happy with them. As far as the size, save the $$$ & go with 265/70/17 especially with the price of gas these days. With a larger tire you are losing gas mileage. Consumer Reports has the Nitto T/G’s at the top of their list for an A/T Tire. Good luck!

Nitto tires are made by Toyo so you know they are good. If you are shopping for price the Nitto and Toyo AT's will be less than the BFG's and may be just as good. Mickey's and Pro Comp AT's are worth a look also.

I've got Nitto's on my truck and love them. 325/60/18 and the truck rides as good or not better than with the fatory Generals that was on the truck. I don't know about the mud part of the tire war but for a good road/all season tire you can't go wrong with Nitto's.

Thumbs up BFG TA KO's

running 285/65/18's"E" on my 08' and couldn't be happier, had 17's on my 02' and liked them so much I ditched the OEM's on the 08' at 181 miles and bought more BFG's. Wear like iron.....I rotate, religiously, at 5K.
The 02', which I'm trying to sell, has 33K on those BFG's and they literally look almost brand new.
If anything better comes along I hope I hear about them.
