Front Brakes Vibrate on slow turn
 

Hello,

Just recently started experiencing the front wheels/brakes grad/vibrate when making a sharp slow turn only during acceleration. On level ground it appears to be very light vibration/grabbing sensation. On an incline, the vibration seems to be worse.

Brought the car to the dealer and they suggested it was time for new brakes. They installed new brakes and also turned the rotors for a nice price tag of $600.

The grabbing and vibration is still there.

I called the dealer and they are suggesting it's time for new tires for $900, although tires have about 10-15K miles to go. Going back next week to take service advisor on a test drive.

Anyone experience this or know what this may be? Thanks

First I would stop going back to that stealership and have someone else check out your suspension like the ball joints, tie rods, hubs, ect..

I would have a reputable shop check the balljoints and front wheel bearings. Sometimes cupped tires can cause similar issues so a balance and rotation of your current tires might help. Last I agree stop going to that shop, I hate mechanics who just throw parts(and your money) at a vehicle because they cant or wont figure it out

Have you had the rear brakes checked ? I know it feels like it's in the front but if the vibration is felt in the whole truck and not in the steering wheel or pedal... chances are real good that it's the rear just transfering the vibration through the driveline.

The rear brakes were done about 14 months by a local mechanic.

Dealer checked them and they said they have apoprox 70% life left...when I had the rear brakes done, I asked them to check the front vibration as the truck needed new fronts to do the fronts as well...he could not figure out what was causing the vibration/grabbing but said that it was not a safety issue....So when it came time to do the front brakes I decided to take it to Ford. I will ask the dealer to also look at that...thanks for the feedback!

Short story
Over 2 years 85 Mustang. Last ditch replace the "soft stuff" in the front
torsion bar, 3 years no problems. About $300, Put 50k on it "Still OK".
Now the 95 150 is starting to do the same. I beat it up running unbalanced
tires too-oo long.

It feels like the rotors are grabbing in spots, or the tires are
unbalanced when you break.
It is a front end shimmy that is faster than tire rotation at any speed.
If you let it go you will replace all the "rubber" plus the shocks.

By the way Ford wants to sell you something.
Took it in for lack of power. I was told worn out garbage.
Two independs plus two dealers later, found out the balancer had shifted.
I guess basic things like timing do not count. Runs fine now, different ford
dealer fixed the problem. Was at 337k miles DEC 07.

Tried twice to get the rear breaks looked at, they did pulse on moderate
hard breaking when new, the rear is no longer self adjusting,so only the
front works. Ford comment "It stops",

If you are a mech, " how do you cope with this".
