guys, my 315-70-17 bfg at ko's just came in. will they fit on my 03 stock fx4 17'' rims? i was under the impression that they would, but i am sh1tting bricks now that i see how much larger they are! i don't have the funding now for new rims. help!:help:

I have one as a spare it looks like it fits fine I donno about daily driver, might wear out the center more quickly.

yeah they'll fit, crank the torsion bars up, and they'll fit, its tight but it will work....

what about on the rims? will they mount safely, and keep a good tread life?

I hope they fit. I'm running 315/75/16s on aftermarket rims right now, which is almost a 35" tire... I confirmed the 315/70/17s are slightly smaller than that, but even with a 3" BL on my 03, I was rubbing a little until the zip teid the gap guards back closer to the frame.

The 315/70/17s will probably fit, but man I foresee a whole lot of rubbin'...

i'm putting on a body lift, but i am worried that they won't safely mount onto the stock fx4 rims. i thought that i read that they would, but am now feeling really unsure if they will, and won't wear irregularly.

yes, they should fit on the OEM FX4 rims... I wanted to run the same tire and size on mine eventually, and it was confirmed that they would fit. I guess you won't know for sure until they're mounted, but I think you'll be OK. Check out this thread:

BFG recommends a minimum rim width of 8.5" and OEM wheels are 7.5" wide. Many people run them on stock wheels, though.

Yeah, they will fit the wheel fine. One member at FTW got about 60k miles out of a set on his FX4 wheels. They are gonna rub the frame slightly at full steering lock using the oem wheels.

ok, thanks to all of you for your very comforting reassurances:thumbsup: pics should be placed up sometime early next week when i get body lift on. i'm putting it on sun, and will be going to get the tires put on mon. what psi should i run the tires at?

You don't want to run them too high since you are using a narrower than recommended wheel or the center of the tread may wear quicker than the sides. I would not go higher than 40psi for daily driving. I'd try 35 psi.

The rims need to be no less than 8.5" wide for it to be a safe fit, and if they are OE wheels, they are not. Whoever sold them to you should have told you this.

No not really a wrong call, Yes it is not "Recommended" but Yes it can be done and safely, and is done MANY MANY times without any problems, just keep them properly inflated and rotate them regularly and you willl probly get good mileage out of them.........there are TONS of trucks on here with 35's on stock 7.5'' wide rims.

I understand where you are coming from, but there's a difference between what you can do and what you should do. I have to answer from a legal standpoint. And legally, if you had an accident and got sued from a tire failure because you chose to pinch a tire onto a rim an inch and a half too thin I doubt you'd find a lawyer to defend you.

Unfortunately this country has become this way, but it's the way The Tire Rack has to look at it.
