BFG's hard to balance.
 

Had the 285/70/17 BFGs installed this morning. They had a rough time getting them to balance. The first one was easy, only 2 oz inside, but the others were calling for between 4.5 - 6 oz. inside and the same on the outside. I had them rotate the tires, on the bead, 1/4 turn and try again. Still ended up with aobut 4 - 5 oz. on the inside, using the static balance setting on the balancer.
Anybody have any ideas? I think these will need balanced often.

where did you buy the tires at? that could be the problem. bad tires.....

I stopped buying BFG's for this same reason over 10 years ago. However, I picked up a set of 315/70/17's TA KO's this winter and I am happy to say that they balanced out rather well...

I bought them at our local tire shop, Raben tire.
This is the first time that I have had problems with tire balancing.

what kind of bfg's? I had a set of at's awhile back the would not keep their balance.

They need to road force balance them. They may be out of spec, making them hard to balance.

They are the All Terrain TA/KO. 285/70/17
What do you mean by road force balance? Is that a setting on the spin balancer?
Right now they seem to be doing ok. Only driven about 25 miles on them.
What pressure do you think they should be run at? Set at 35 psi from the dealer.

That is a special spin balancer that also has an arm that puts pressure on the tread to determine if the tire is out of round. The larger a tire is, the more likely this seems to occur.
In my opinion, static balancing just doesn't cut it.

Thanks for the info. I talked to some folks today and have located a shop that uses that particular system. I'm heading there tomorrow.
