ABS sensor resistance?
 

Hi,

What's the resistance of the front wheel speed sensors for a 2001 f150?
The rear diff sensor is 1500 ohms.

Should be approx the same - with some range of variance. Same technology used here.

More important - is it shorted, or open?

That information is for a 1983 Bronco. I think a 2001 F150 could be different.

I've seen some good info form supermotors.net, but haven't figured how to do a search and find what I'm looking for. Does that exist?

An '83 Bronco doesn't have ABS, so no; it's not for an '83 Bronco. It's an image I've uploaded to the SMO registry for my '83 Bronco, but the info applies to '87-96 F-series & '87-92 Broncos. But Ford PROBABLY hasn't changed the design of the sensors very much (especially their electronic characteristics) even today, so those values probably apply directly to your truck.

SMO is really a public image/video hosting site. Not many people upload technical data like I do, so IDK if searching the whole site would return any useful results. But to search MY stuff, switch the album view to "Thumbnails + Captions" and hit CTRL+F (the standard way of searching any web page). Service manual says between 300 and 500 for the front sensors.

Here's what the symptom charts suggests for your symptom:

§ GO to Intermittent Failures to test circuits: 514 (YE/RD), 516 (YE/BK), 523 (RD/PK) and 519 (LG/BK).

§ Chafed wire insulation or pinched wire due to improper routing causing intermittent short.

§ INSPECT wiring harness from front sensor knuckle to the frame and from the rear axle to the frame for worn or chafed wire insulation.

Possible Source(s):
§ Rear brake adjustment too tight.
§ Linings are grabby.

Action(s) to take:
§ ELIMINATE base brake system as cause of problem.

Possible Source(s):
§ Loose sensor(s).

Action(s) to take:
§ TIGHTEN sensor bolt to specifications. REFER to Specifications.
