To Stuff or NOT to stuff 37's
I know its been asked but with a 4.5" backspace on my wheels can I get a toyo 37 x 13.50 x 18 tire under my truck with out additional trimming. I have to replace the 45000 mile 35" BFG muds soon & Id like to try & stuff 37' toyo MT on there before the snow hits.
The 4 X 4 is equipped with a 3" PA body lift & a 6" Superlift suspension. I've done some trimming prior already with the body lift only just to get the 35's on, I had to trim the plastic wheel well & the running boards. Now with an additional 6" on top of the body lift will the 37's fit, because I have no more room to trim from. Except for the running boards at a certain steering wheel crank up my drive way it seems as if there is just an inch or so between the existing tire and the running board let alone a 37". |
with 9" of lift you could EASILY fit 37s, its almost mandatory in my opinion. 35s look tiny. josiah has 37s under just a 6", with the same rims. you have 9". definitly go with at least 37s, you could probably also fit 38s.

The only reason it will be a tight fit is because of your wheels (wide with a shallow backspacing).

Thats what Im skeptical about, some members run 37" x 13.50 but I am UNSURE of there wheel backspacing, I am NOT sure if the 13.50 wide X 37 will neatly go on due to me 4.5" backspace. Does anyone run a 4.5" backspace with a 37" x 13.50 tire with no rubs?? I dont have the $ to buy a different wheel with a higher backspace # right now. Wandell is it that I would need like a 5" backspace to make better clearence because it would keep the wheel closer to the inside of the truck? What size wheel would be more of a precise fit for my application ?? |
RIght, your 18x10's with 4.5 inches of backspacing really push the tire/wheel outward. In fact they stick out 3.5 inches farther than the oem 17 and 18 inch wheels. The most common wheel seems to be an 18x9 with 5 inches of bs, which sticks out 2 inches farther than the oem wheels. If you change to a 9 inch wide wheel with at least 5 inches of bs, you should be able to fit 37's easily.

 Thanx Wandell, when my budget allows I'll resort back to this post & be sure my new wheels & tires are the size you suggest.:beers: |

Hey bud, I'm not talking about rubbing or clearing or anything about that matter. I clearly stated to go with 37s. I though I made myself clear enough so that people of your intelligence level could comprehend that problem free. Maybe I should have stated that differently, and for that, I apologize. z-u-later, I think you should get 37s. Do what it takes, because it will be worth it. I think I made myself clear enough. Bud, if you need any help comprehending(understanding) what I just typed, I will have my sister(3rd grade) read it and explain to you what it says.

Thats what i thought bud.

you guys are like friggin girls, just state what you want and be done with it. dont turn this into a flame war.
bud: let him state what he wants to say, its his opinion and the OP was asking for opinions.(and frankly, i agree that he should use 37s in any way possible). Keith: no need for "thats what i thought bud", its a forum, grow up. |

I think 37's would look awesome on your truck. If you were concerned about the rubbing or trimming issues you could go with a 36, like an irok radial. Had those on my old truck and loved them:thumbsup:
