2.5" Level kit + BFG 305/65/18s Installed
2004 4x4 Lariat SCrew
I installed the 2.5" Level kit I got a couple of weeks back (TopGun Customz ~$80), and it really made the stock 275/65/18s looks small. The install was fairly easy w/ the instructions I searched around for on this site. It took me about 2.5hrs doing it by myself on base at the Hobby Shop (all the tools I needed + lift). I made sure I went real slow and took my time w/ things as to not mess them up. I really haven't worked on trucks that much, and it wasn't that bad.
After tons of shopping around and research, I decided to go with the BFG TAKO 305/65/18s (I got them for $249/ea @ Big10Tires in Ft Walton Beach, FL). I am very satisfied with the way they turned out, and have absolutely no rubbing. The difference in ride between these and the Dueler AT/Revos that were on it when I bought it aren't very noticeable (granted the Revos were worn pretty well). The truck rides minutely different, but is still very quiet and comfortable. I have yet to do any sort of off-roading with it, so I can't speak to traction and whatnot off of the road.
All said and done, I am very happy with the leveling kit and tires, and recommend the leveling kit to everyone w/ an F150. Very cheap mod, and changes the overall look of the truck.
Also, as for tire size, I think the 305/65/18s fill out the wheel well almost perfectly, and if anything err on the small side. If you are debating (as was I) on 285 or 305 and are able to afford the 305, I highly recommend it. I think when it comes time to buy a new set, I'm going to have to lift it and get bigger tires.
