1st post! Question about tire sizes

Hey all! I am a newbie to trucks, I came from lowerd imports, I have a 2x4 xlt and am wondering whats the biggest tire size I can go without lifting? Or if I put the leveling kit on whats the biggest tire size? Any info would help, thanks....

If you put a leveling kit on your truck you can fit 33x12.50's using the OEM wheels or an aftermarket wheel close to the same specs. (which is 7.5 inches wide with 5.5 inches of backspacing.)

Thanks for the info! I think I am going to get the readylift leveling kit and use my oem 17" wheels. I will probably need tires soon and I want some a little wider. I don't know what size though, I am a newb.....

When you go to a bigger size tire, isn't there something that needs recalibrated too?

Not necessarily. The speedometer will be off depending on the stock size and new tire size difference. Also the tranny shift points might be off as well but nothing to really worry about too much.

Correction, The speedometer won't be off with tires that are wider. It only needs to be re-calibrated if you get taller tires. The difference in width won't affect a whole lot as far as calibrations go.--DIY
