35's on stock rims ????

I have a 06 4x4 fx4 with the 2.5 leveling kit, and add a leaf. I was woundering if 35 12.50/18 will fit on my stock rims?? Also does anyone have pics of this set up?? If there is going to be rubbing where would I need to trim (front valance)?

you will fit. you will not rub the valence, or fenders. you will rub the upper control arm, lower control arm, and sway bar. these are Procomp Xterrain 35x12.5R18's

here you can see the minor rubbing- only happens when you hold the wheel at full crank left or right

Does anyone know what are the biggest size tires I could fix on my stock 03 fx4 on 17's? Im sure I'll pick up the leveling kit first. Hopefully it can fit 35's like matthems.

Thanks

You'll be fine. However, I'd suggest looking at other tires. The Mud Grapplers are a good tire, but they are very loud and wear quickly. Also, the OEM 17 inch wheels are the same width and backspacing as the OEM 18's so you can fit a 35x12.50-17 (315/70-17) also.

Thanks wandell! Your a smart guy... I was looking at toyo m/t open countrys, I saw some 35's on a F250 that were awesome! Great offroad and on the highway, and they look pretty sharp..

also did you get my post to you on this thread? Really curious about your setup, It looks sweeeeeeet!

No, the body lift has nothing to do with the shocks.

That's something to think about, a 35 will rub on the control arms on stock wheels. When my 35's were on my aftermarket wheels they only rubbed on the lower wheelwells. I need to get a wheel to "split the difference" and put my 35's back on!

so stock wells + 35's = rubbing eh? Im guessing that all the different stock rims have different backspacing though.. Hopefully the ones on my FX4 won't. I may just put a 3 inch body lift on er...

All of the 16 and 17 inch OEM wheels offered on 97-03 F-150's had 4.5 inches of backspacing. Basically, the only way to fit a 35x12.50 on a stock 97-03 4x4 is to use the OEM wheels. This is an extremely tight fit and there will be some rubbing on the frame at full steering lock.
