spare tire....do i need it?
just curious if most of you guys that have upgraded tires to a larger size are still carrying your spare? i'm running 35's now and i've heard driving with my spare could cause some damage to the truck. if so what's the point of still carrying the extra weight? what do you guys think?

Up to you. What are you going to do if you get a flat? I suppose it depends where it happens. I think I'd rather drive on a mismatched spare carefully and slowly than pay for a tow or leave my truck on the side of the road sitting up on a jack waiting for someone to come bail my *** out. Friends aren't that friendly any more at 3am.
I may be old school, but i won't drive anywhere without a spare - even if it's a silly little doughnut.

Matthew, I felt the same way-wondering what to do about my spare and worrying about getting a flat; ended up buying a full size spare just for piece of mind. I managed to squeeze a 35X13X18 up under there, it was tight but it fit and barely noticeable too! The way I look at it, I will have to buy one less tire in 2 years and I can just rotate an old one to the spare.
You can also look out on E-Bay-I was able to locate a used tire (same brand and size) for a third of the cost. Of course, this was after buying a brand new one!

Yes I would leave a spare under there!!! Even if it is a smaller tire. I always hang on to old tires we take off just for this reason. (And for buddies with the same situation) I know a 315/75/16 will fit under the superduty, Will it fit under a supercrew(2001)? You don't need to worry about the same rim et.c just the same size tire diam. Example: I wouldn't buy another 20" wheel with a 35" tire, just use a factory wheel and find a used 35" tire, Like wandel said. All it's gotta do is hold air and get you to the nearest town.
