Help on New Tires and Wheels
I have a 2001 Supercew 4wd with the factory 17" wheels. I need new tires, and want to go to an 18" wheel. I would really like to go with the Bridgestone A/T Revos with a 275/65/18. I don't want to worry about any power loss, gas mileage changes, or speedometer changes, and it looks like the overall height and weight will be very close to my original 17s. The problem is that I would like a widder look to my wheel and tire combination. What is the best width and backspacing that I can go with and not create any rubbing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want 18's, I'd suggest going with at least a 285/65-18 (33x11.50) on an 18x9 inch wheel. Personally, I'd go with an 18x9 to 18x10 inch wheel (with at least 4.5 inches of backspacing) and a set of 325/60-18's (33x13.00). You would have to crank up the torsion bars and trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower valance to clear the 325's.

Wandell,
Thanks for the reply, I am glad that you added your suggestions. On the 285s will I am guessing that my speedometer would be off about 3-5 mph, due to going from a 31.5" to a 33" tire. Is this correct? I agree that your suggestions would definately look better, but I'm just trying to go to a larger rim without changes in performance, mpg, etc. What tire would you suggest for the 285 that would provide a good ride, and good mileage (more than 40,000 miles)? Also, if I stayed with the 275, would the 18x9 with the 4.5" backspacing still prevent any rubbing (without cranking the torsion bars)? Thanks again for the help.
