tire gearing

I was watching exteme4x4 the feb 11 episode, when changing tire size you divide new tire size by the old tire size then muliptly stock gearing, it will give you a new gear ratio u need to run.
example: 35" new tire, divide old 32" tire size, then muliply the stock gear ratio (mine is 3.73) = 4.07 Hope this makes sense

BFG has a tool that does a couple different calculations when changing tire sizes. Its on the right hand side of this link under "Tire Tips".

Yes, that'll get you the effective gear ration. Remember that larger tires weigh more so you'd want an even shorter gear than that if spending the bucks to change them.

35" tires = 4.56 IMHO. 36-37" 4.88:1

I believe it is 4wheelparts.com that has a tire size / gear ratio chart. Give you several options depending on the style of driving you desire.

4LO.com has some really great calculators. They even have a Blood Alcohol Content calculator just in case you want to go mudding after a few brews.
